most likely would have to be an active 'listener' at all times w/ enabled sound (on/off) so that users could hear a ping or whatever when they are notified if not already browsing TD

It definitely needs to be thought out as a poorly implemented notification system will get aggravating quick. I'm not thinking email notifications, I'm talking about notifications on the site itself and then push notifications whenever an app is finically created.

Email would be annoying. I'm talking about notifications on the webpage itself similar to Facebook notifications. Obviously, there needs to be a way to customize/turn them off as well.

How about adding a list on the "Active/Recent/Trending" page for "Participated". Maybe even a "Following" list where you can click to follow certain threads and have them show up in a list.

I know others are being negative nancys but I LOVE it. The customizable links are better than tits.

It doesn't seem as smooth and aesthetically pleasing as the current. Looks like a low budget forum IMO
