What do you think your employees, students, or whoever says about you and thinks about you?

I think my students say something along the lines of I’m very strict and don’t put up with much BS and can be mean and an arse sometimes ......... but also that I know my material and truly do want them to succeed and try to reach their potential.

This board has gone to hell.

That's what I think about this thread.

They fear and respect me. I compare it to how the Germans looked at their leader from 1933-1944

As long as they don't think that I am lazy or incompetent, then I really don't care what else they think about me.

As an engineering manager, I wonder that sometimes. I'm still fairly young (40), so I can still recall being a subordinate. I feel like I'm the 'cool' and likeable boss, but who knows.

I will say demand more than a few thousand dollars going to that role transition. I'd much rather be making 7-8K less than having the stress and responsibility of managing other people.

My employees always make snide comments about how I'm always posting on TD at work. What the hell do they know?

My immediate supervisees like me. Those a few levels down who don't really know me are a bit nervous around me.

I hope those who I'd like to stick around think well of me. Otherwise they probably won't. Those who I wish I'd never hired? Hopefully they leave soon and IDGAF why. If they do it because they think I'm an arse that's fine.

So the network engineer who is great at his job, yeah I hope he thinks I'm a good manager. The accountant whose work I always have to review b/c it sucks and who hits on the married women all the time? I'd probably look for a reason for him to think I'm a jackass.

My students probably think I’m an a-hole, but I don’t care. As long as I know that I’ve done everything possible that I could do to prep them for college and/or the workforce, I’m satisfied. Whether they decide to take the red pill or the blue pill is up to them.

I still get calls from former employees to have a drink, dinner, etc. I think the current group of employees are just ready for me to "stop talking about it and retire, already."

Every supervisor should want his/her subordinates to respect them, have faith in decisions and believe they are fair. If someone claims they don’t care what employees think, they’re a crappy supervisor
