Masks, if effective at all, only increase the duration of the outbreak.

quote:

By transmitting the virus to others in the low-risk group who then generate antibodies, they block the network of pathways toward the most vulnerable people, ultimately ending the threat.

This from a world renowned Stanford scientist. Get your information from him, not the Broomes of the world.

So let’s decrease the duration of the outbreak

Why didn't Fauci just tell everyone to use a scarf when he said masks don't work if it was to save masks?

Doesn’t matter, none of these local leaders are going to be bullied. The citizens they represent, on the other hand...

IDC about wearing or not wearing a mask. I care about shutting down businesses and putting people out of work again.

I don’t like the masks either and they’re probably unnecessary but some of y’all are acting like you’re being sent to Auschwitz :

What are you talking about, Louisianans are known to be highly intelligent when it comes to choosing what is best for themselves, their economy, education, health, etc.. They know better. It is like sending someone to Auschwitz to challenge them when they know more than anyone all the time.

That will not prevent the spread of the virus, period. Cases will continue to increase because people are socializing. Masks do nothing but prolong the situation, which is pointless. There may never be a vaccine.

Why is prolonging the spread of the virus automatically better, again? We are nowhere close to overwhelming the health system. How long does the spread need to be prolonged? Forever?

This has been my question that regularly seems to get ignored. Why are we still trying to slow the spread?

Your article is from April.

They’re finding in studies that it’s possible we don’t develop prolonged immunity (in the traditional sense) when infected with COVID-19. They’re finding in antibody testing that the antibodies aren’t present for very long after infection.

They’re looking at other means of potential immunity (such as T Cell activation). But we can’t say herd immunity would occur at this point.

It’s a distinction without a difference

Either way, normal life has to resume

Exactly...this is why the Spanish Flu only lasted 3 years. That Herd immunity kicked in and saved everyone (well, except for the 50 Million people who died from it).

A lot of these fools don’t see the correlation. Putting restrictions on businesses that are barely able to make it as is, well it’s not good

And what, exactly, could have realistically been done to save those 50 million lives that would not have had other catastrophic costs?

Btw, mask wearing during the Spanish Flu was common.
