are we really comparing Posting 3 times in the advocate and holding live auction to EBay?
How many times would you want the government to post notices? 5? 10? 1,000?
This piece of property is just one of many that the C-P sells each year, including surplus cars, machinery, office equipment, etc.
Again, if any information about this property was knowingly withheld from the public before the auction took place, then I'd be outraged and I'd pick up my pitchfork.
I've seen nothing in the OP's article or any post in this thread that indicates it was a secretive process leading up to the sale.
It looks to me there is a lot of faux outrage in this thread because those posters didn't bid on the property.

must have thought it was property in NBR

I think you are making a half-arse attempt to stir the pot.
Look at the facts:
1) We have a developer, a known friend of a city-parish councilman, and a city-parish who has helped him in the past to get parish property put up for sale.
2) We have the city putting proper up for sale at the request of the same councilman.
3) We have the same developer responding to a bland, legal description, of a high profile piece of property; that he knew was coming up for sale because he asked his buddy to sell it.
4) it's obvious to me that the two of them know that the city-parish is negligent in that they probably put up pieces of properties for sale without getting an appraisal.
5) The guy scooped up the property for a song.6) The city council member who knew the guy approved the sale even though he knew the property had to be worth more than 10K.
And know I'm not mad that I didn't get to buy the property. I'm mad because the city-parish doesn't take care of business. They purchased the land to widen the roads in that area. It was kept as Green space. They likely paid more than 10K for the property and then let a politician and his buddy take it for almost nothing.
You may call it faux outrage, but I put this right up there with some of the stuff the COA, CATS, and Broome have pulled.
If you are fine with your govt. doing these kind of deals fine, but I'm not.

this is as shady as our new worthless mayor handing out our tax dollars to her team

Is this on the SW quadrant of the intersection? Sort of across Bluebonnet from Izzo's?
How appropriate is it for development? Is there limited access to Bluebonnet or Jefferson that close to the light?

Exactly, at best its incompetence and malfeasance by officials and at worst it is a crime.

That's a good question, and we shall see because per the BRBR they intend to get the property rezoned
quote:
Planning Director Frank Duke says the tract is currently zoned residential, but he fully expects someone to request it to be rezoned for development.
“The narrow depth of the parcel is going to create something of a design challenge,” Duke says. “I think it can be overcome, but you’re going to have to be creative in how you do it.”

6) The city council member who knew the guy approved the sale
And you continue to look uninformed: Ryan Heck was not even a member of the council when the council voted to approve the sale a few months ago. So Heck didn't vote to approve the sale.
The OP's article even refers to Heck as "former Metro councilman Ryan Heck." You still haven't read the article linked in the OP.

They're building a bank directly across Jefferson on a lot of similar size and shape. It would be tight, but I would think it could be done.

Tax rolls indicate the state, DOTD as the owner.

And the entire city council approved the COA vote, that doesn't make it right does it?

Ok, I made a mistake on the timeline, but while I was mistaken you look really silly backing the city on this mess. I ask again, do you know this developer personally? Or maybe you know Heck?

Sorry Charlie, I read the article linked before it was brought here. And I already knew Heck was off the Council.
But that has nothing to do with the facts, what the City-Parish did was indefensible.

When was his term up ?.. Asking because I dont see a specific date anywhere...and also because the businessreport says
quote:
. Former Metro Councilman Ryan Heck, who represented the area in which the land is located, carried the deal through the process
What do they mean when they say Heck "carried the deal through the process" ?
Posted on 8/1/17 at 2:34 pm to yaherrdme
Heck didn't run for re-election last November and the new council was sworn in the first week in January.
The linked article says the council voted to approve the auction sale "earlier this year."

Understood, the BusinessReport obviously thinks Heck had a lot to do with it, but they are being somewhat cryptic. I expect something to hit the fan soon.

the land was pushed through as surplus by Heck and auctioned when he was still in office late last year. The sale was not approved by the metro council until this year when he was no longer in office.
Posted on 8/1/17 at 2:47 pm to yaherrdme
According to the OP linked article this process to dispose of this property has been going on for quite a while....more than a year. Heck was on the council last year until he decided not to run for re-election.
My earlier point to the other poster was to refute his claim that Heck voted for the sale at the council meeting. Heck was no longer on the C-P council when the sale vote was taken.

If its childish then why did you bring up the council vote first? You make a point that the entire council voted on the deal as if that made it OK. I just pointed out that our council doesn't always vote for what's in our best interest and you call that childish?????

No, by backing the city I meant you are OK that they didn't care to do a proper evaluation, that they were negligent in letting this property go for nothing, and perhaps they violated state law. It appears you are OK with all this. I can only conclude that you either care that our city officials do the minimum, or that you are friends with the developer.

You're irrational.
You are trying to defend the actions of the city simply because you believe they complied with the letter of the law, when we already have a state official questioning as to whether or not they did.
I don't know what to tell you, but an attitude like yours fosters those like Broome, Gravy and the others that believe its their turn, and that as long as no law is broken then anything they do is OK.
