Based on your post history I figured you’d pick the bullet.

It sounds like your typical southern small city to me.

saw 20 people arrested and alcohol get banned from lazarre point beach because an underaged girl picked up someone's beer and took a drink. later, saw a person arrested for walking across the beach with an unopened cooler. after he got in his boat and went into the river, a cop came down and called him back, insisted that he open the cooler, then arrested him. that was before someone decided to give a blowjob in his car and got the whole damn park closed. the only substantial public asset the towns have is the river, and Monroe does everything it can to minimize its use. yeah, monroe and west monroe have been shitty for many years.

i lived there until i was 25, and have been going back regularly for the last 40 years. i'm familiar with the town. we sold dad's house last year, and there's nothing to go back for now. the only things worth seeing there are the river and Enoch's.

I live in west Monroe...or more accurately, in Ouachita parish outside WM. I hate it here and the bullet may be the best option. Grew up south of Monroe. Left at 20. Moved back, primarily, due to wife’s family being here. I’ve been back a dozen or so years now. I’m in BR for every home football game, and have been since I was very young. We go down to BR for baseball games and other family outings. Given the options...just shoot me.

I will not retire in Ouachita Parish...the thought of that is sickening.

If you are content with living some sort of a laid back farmer/rancher lifestyle with kids is it really that bad other than the crime when you go to town?

Deuces, crime is not bad in Monroe unless you live east of campus or south of 165 by Loop Road.

North Monroe has vehicle break-ins. Compared to Shreveport and BR, Monroe is Ginger beer.

Also do not go behind the boat docks by Forsythe. A world of shadiness awaits.

I have lived in most cities/towns in Louisiana and quite a few in other states and have to say that there is not a whole hell of a lot of difference in one town vs another...the only thing that really varies is the scale of things.

I found Monroe to be a pretty decent place to live. Commute to work was the easiest I have ever had, nice people, decent variety of resturants, etc. What I really loved was the recreational activities available in the area. The river running through town was a blast during the summers and there are just a ton of hunting and fishing opportunities within a half hour drive.

I do want to live. Although having to actually live in either city isn't really living is it?

know how much I dislike BR.

I lived in Monroe for my first semester of college (back when it was NLU). I had a countdown to when the semester would be over on my calendar and I could move back to BR. This was after my first week living there. It was a crappy and depressing city 23 years ago...can't imagine it got much better since then.

If you put a gun to my head and told me I had to either move to Monroe or BR...I'm picking BR

Lol. What a self absorbed dick face you are. Your indictment of a place is probably a validation.
