Same here. Bad for health. Bad for smells. Evidence of poor decision making (impulsive and caves to peer pressure). Bad for finances.

Not good qualities to consider when joining up for life.

I’ve grown up around it but never partaken in cigarettes. I don’t think it would bother me that much unless they tried smoking in the house or cars.

My wife and I both smoked when we first met over 20 years ago. After 5 years together we decided to quit smoking. I did so cold turkey and haven't pulled a single drag off one in the last 15+ years.

She lasted 2 weeks and continues to smoke to this day. I've told her several times that if I were single and we met, I'd not pursue a relationship with her due to her smoking. I really find it that offensive, and have for years now. Most people who smoke have no clue how nasty that stench is that clings to them and anything around their smoking area.

I know my wife's sense of smell is WAY off.

I bet!

Does she still talk about quitting, or has she given up on the idea?

I would encourage her to try smokeless tobacco products as an alternative.

Appeal to your wife’s vanity.

Remind her how women who smoke age soooo much faster than those that don’t. Show her pics of women with the smokers wrinkles around their mouth.

She talks about it from time to time, but no matter what she tries, she fails. She tried Chantix once and had some nasty side effects with nightmares being the worst.

She's done patches, gum, and once tried cold turkey to no avail. She just doesn't have the willpower to do so and it kills me because she's one of the type that does almost anything she puts her mind to, and does it well----except quitting smoking.

Trust me, I have gone with that tactic------and she says she knows, but she still lights up. She smokes less than a pack a day during the week, mainly because she's at work and can't smoke except a couple breaks during the day, but on weekends, she's a pack or better a day smoker----especially if drinking her Chardonnay and gabbing with friends on the phone. The good thing is she only smokes outside around the house, but her car is nothing short of a rolling ashtray with that stench permeating everything.

This was one of the first questions I would always ask her on a first date. If the answer was yes, I would relax and not care how the rest of the date went because I knew there would not be a second date.

Vaping is trashier than smoking, and it's not any better for your health really. Both suck, but I can't stand people who vape, they're all just really fricking wierd people.

My wife won a 5 day/4 night cruise to Cozumel and Progresso last summer from her employer and it was our first cruise. We went to the small casino aboard the ship and while walking around we noticed it was the only place you could smoke inside the ship.

There was one guy about 30 or so that was vaping and blowing out huge clouds of that crap big enough to obscure 3 adults and that fricker looked to be so proud of himself for doing so. All I could think was "What as a-hole."

No one cares what you think is trashy. Saying something is trash is totally an opinion, so vapers/smokers won't care.

Also if you are going to go talk about something, try to have just a little bit of knowledge. Vaping is WAY healthier than smoking.

Multiple studies say vaping is better

I would never have dated or married a smoker. Anyone who has that little regard for themselves probably less than ideal person to spend a lifetime with for me.

Wife nor I smoke but of course I could date someone who smokes. Only women or a flamboyant flaming homo would choose not to date someone because they smoke. Literally that’s the only 2 types of people that wouldn’t date someone because they smoke.
