BRPD is just covering the retreat of those who can move. They can hold out about a year.

The boy who was struck and killed by a vehicle fleeing police at Old Hammond Highway and Gloria Drive on Wednesday was identified by his family as Samuel Lee III.

The 12-year-old, known as Sammy, had just crossed the street with his best friend, who lived across Old Hammond Highway, when he was struck, said his mother Michelle Terrance.

"He was a character, everyone loved Sammy," Terrance said. "We really loved him."

Balloons and flowers were left at the intersection of Old Hammond Highway and Gloria Drive Thursday morning.

Sammy had just graduated from the fifth grade from Riveroaks Elementary School.

"He was a great kid," Terrance said.

Police identify the driver as Joshual Hilton, 32. Seems he has been in trouble before and ran from the cops then too.

Damn, that dude was caught before with a massive amount of money and drugs.

That was where the actual shooting occurred, on O'Neal.

I think they hit him with manslaughter for the death of the child.

In his previous arrest by EBRSO less than a year ago, he ran from them as well.

That was from his September 2016 arrest.

Those were the charges from his arrest in September 2016.

From today:

quote:

Investigators arrested Joshual Hilton, 32, of Baton Rouge and charged him with manslaughter, reckless operation, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

So I guess he was out on bail for the 2016 charges.

Yeah, they charged him with manslaughter for the death of the child. Those drugs I posted were from his arrest last year.

I thought if you killed someone in the process of committing a felony than you were charged with murder. Am I just making that up?
