I wouldn't even walk close to that ledge. Don't need a million that badly.

Sure. But I have been there, though roped, but I could stand there for an hour no problem, hell if I could sit I would stay all day for $500k per hour. The problem is you can't stand up straight backed and it would get pretty tiring after an hour if you weren't comfortable moving around. It is ~1600ft up the regular Northwest Face route on Half Dome in Yo Valley and gives a great view of the entirety of Yosemite Valley. Legendary climb.
The route was fairly easy when I did it 5.9 A1 with one night on the wall but there was a flake that exfoliated a few years years ago that requires a higher level aid or a serious free pitch and probably adds 2 hours to the climb if you are aiding.
Nice to meet another climber. Was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to climb all over the world…French, Swiss, and Julian Alps. Himalayas, Sierra Nevadas, Rockys, and Smokey/Appalachian mountains…all paid for by Uncle Sam. Good times. Multi-pitch with camp-outs were the best.

"Pay off my mortgage and put my 3 kids through college, with plenty left over. Get rid of my biggest expense each month for standing somewhere for an hour? Sign me up."
I'm not saying it won't relieve some financial stress but, that million will end up being more like $650k after taxes so, after paying some debt and tuition, you're right back to work on Monday. And that ledge is a long arse ways up. lol

Where is that?
Did someone really carve out a flat path out of that rockface?
I wonder what that process was like.
Probably dwarves. They’re good at carving rock.

It’d be hard for the baws on the OT. Their 3XL PFGs may work like a kite at that height with a breeze.

Nope. I don’t even like tall ladders.

Obtuse’s post is going to be more interesting than 90%+ of the posts on this thread.

there is zero chance I do that. for no amount of money.

My widow would be rich at least.

Could not do it. I’d remain in my current financial state. I hiked the Grand Canyon and was not comfortable in many scenarios there so that’s that.

Could I handle an hour-long Adrenalin punch??

My palms are sweating and I feel dizzy just looking at that picture, so hell no.

Someone starts a thread about some remote place, and someone on this board who has ACTUALLY been there posts a comment about it, and you decide to call them out as boasting? The irony here is that most people reading this thread sees your post as a "look at me!" post, not his.

I’m not going to knock anyone who would, but absolutely not.

I'm not sure I could look at that picture for an hour without fainting.
Not afraid of heights, but absolutely terrified by the thought of falling from them.

True, but I'm a fairly small guy and don't take up a lot of space. Take the cash, pay the taxes, pay off the debt and invest the rest to be used for college expenses. Keep on working and anything I was allocating for housing and college gets put towards retirement and I'm not working until I'm 70. Retire at 55 with a little place near the coast, buy a boat and go fishing.
