Food Lines

When this started, St Bernard schools was handing out food on a daily basis (a hot lunch and a cold / dry breakfast for next day).
That became M/W/F with one hot lunch, one cold lunch, and 2 cold / dry breakfasts.
That became a once-a-week shelf-stable box with basically cold milk and canned goods.
Late last week, they announced it will become an every other Monday thing. So today, at three school sites, they are giving out a box with 2 weeks worth of shelf-stable breakfast and lunch stuff (one box per kid). They are also giving out milk and I think juice.
The car lines today at these three sites are such that it is taking most people 90 - 120 minutes to get through the line.
It doesn't get this bad after hurricanes. This is insane.

Should show you how valuable their time is, especially since most of these items are still
On the shelves
ETA: but if there’s nothing else to do, watching tv on your phone while you wait in line for food doesn’t sound like the worst thing ever

many of these people are struggling to feed themselves or their kids
pennies mean a lot when one has nothing

So this is for kids that depend on school for food? How are people that can’t feed their children in custody of said children?

When this ends, the government will have caused an economic calamity anywhere from short but deep recession to full blown years long depression and temporarily saved maybe 20 or 30 thousand people across the whole US.
Its entirely indefensible, the government owns all of these problems, and I don't think there's anything they can do to fix it.

I'm pretty sure this is true in most places

I know I didn't, and IIRC neither did you.
This last month has been the culmination of decades worth of negative societal trends. We may be about to see some real bad stuff.
