looks like the fluoride worked for you

The NTP monograph concluded, with moderate confidence, that higher levels of fluoride exposure, such as drinking water containing more than 1.5 milligrams of fluoride per liter, are associated with lower IQ in children.
Average IQ has been going down steadily for a while now because smart people are having fewer kids and dumb people have tons of them.
Also the optimal level of Fluoride in drinking water is 0.7 mg per liter, so less than half of the amount found to be harmful in the study. Over 70% of water systems keep their levels between 0.6 and 0.7mg per liter.

Well water has no fluoride in it.

Flouride occurs naturally in groundwater and people have been drinking it far longer than they have not

People have a really warped idea of groundwater being roughly the same everywhere and it really isn't.
There is a well that JEA in Jacksonville pumps from that has water that is almost identical to Dasani chemically straight from the ground

Had mine tested when it was drilled, just a bit of iron, but I have a filter on there for that.

that's remarkably wrong. Much of the US west uses well water that has naturally occurring floride . Surface water, rivers, lakes, streams more typically have no floride

What is Fluoride?
To understand fluoride we first have to talk about fluorine.
Fluorine is an element, the most electronegative element on the periodic table which makes it extremely reactive. This means it loves electrons and like all elements it wants to become stable, to do so it has to pick up one more electron. In the process of picking up one more electron it becomes a negative ion. In other words, it now becomes fluoride (F-).
![]()
Now when fluorine the element becomes fluoride the ion, it also becomes a compound in the process. It’s these compounds that we find added into our water and toothpaste, like fluorosilicic acid and sodium fluoride.
The reason why the subject of fluoride has to be started like this is because most websites, organizations and public figures paint the picture of fluoride in a very misleading manner. They say it’s a naturally occurring substance that’s very abundant on earth. Adding that it’s found in soil, water, rocks, air, plants and animals. By painting fluoride as “natural” it makes many people believe it’s good for them.
This is misguiding in two main ways.
Even though fluorine is a naturally occurring element, that does not mean it is good for you. Not all things made by the earth were made to put in our body. For example, lead, lithium, aluminum, arsenic, mercury and radium are all naturally occurring elements on Earth but we all know how deadly they are for the human body.
Second, you don’t have fluorine added to your water and toothpaste, you have the different compounds of fluoride added. And as you will learn in the next section, none of these different compound additives occur naturally.
In fact, it’s quite unnatural.

Toothpaste has plenty of Fluoride for the teeth.
So is fluoride a problem or not?
Willing to use it concentrated twice a day brushing but it is evil and bad to drink it?

Thanks for the insight. How do you people know this sort of random stuff?
Obtuse, and others, subscribe to my daily "Know Random Stuff & shite" newsletter.
For a small monthly fee of $7.99 you, too, can know more random shite.
For example, did you know that a tiger's stripes are like human fingerprints - no two tigers have the same pattern. Also, if you were to shave a tiger, which I don't recommend unless they are heavily sedated, their skin is also striped.

It’s why I frequent this place. Amazing what you can learn from TD

When you see things like this, you can immediately dismiss it.
The dose makes the poison. Its then number 1 rule of toxicology.

Absolutely not. (Dentist here). They always say "follow the money", but the dental profession has worked hard for decades to fluoridate water supplies at the appropriate, evidence researched amounts in order to keep teeth healthier. (Without fluoride in the water I would make more money, so there goes that motive.) We're talking fluoride amounts of 1 part per 1,000,000, and that was reduced a few years 0.7 parts. Naturally occurring fluoride in well water communities leads to no decay and no health hazards but slight staining of teeth. Is fluoride unhealthy in large amounts? Yes. You know what else is? Vitamin C, spinach, tuna, water, the list goes on.
Don't believe RFK, Jr. and recent trends in pseudoscience. Don't believe that video on page 1 of this thread. Trust decades upon decades of peer reviewed scientific evidence. (Of course, the world is full of "don't trust the experts" now from people doing their own "research" on youtube and tiktok.)

If you swallow more than what is used to brush your teeth then it's toxic.
You have to drink 1 Liter of water per hour for it to be toxic.
See the difference?
No. The dose still makes the poison.
An adult would have to consume 3 large tubes of toothpaste for it to become toxic.

No enough to be useful.
Look at the brits teeth. no fluoride in the water and they use toothpaste. Teeth fricked up like a football bat.

Cool. Water is poison.

This board. There were also some articles about it when the LA Senate was proposing a bill to ban fluoride additives.

The amount of fluoride from drinking water that hits your teeth is negligible and you'd be ok brushing your teeth.. The constant saturation of your gut with fluoride which is a poison is very detrimental.. There's a lot of data and literature on it...
