CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. — A Florida woman was arrested on Wednesday after she allegedly bludgeoned her dog to death with a crowbar. According to Animal Control, on the night of January 13, 2018, 55-year-old Tammy Ewing says she tried to euthanize her dog by overdosing. She gave the dog, named Sophie, Tylenol PM, and Barbituates at home. However, she says the next morning she woke up and Sophie was still alive. Ewing then used a crowbar to beat Sophie to death before burying her in the backyard, according to authorities. Animal Control says she told them she had the money to take her to a vet's office to be euthanized but didn't because she was worried it would be too traumatizing for Sophie.
