Free speech isn't unlimited to begin with, much less absolute for teachers/administrators in the context of retaining their employment.

There are limits for sure. The "yelling fire in a movie theater" comes to mind. But in this instance, it's very cut and dry. He made a statement the powers that be over the school found politically objectionable and he's being punished for it. And since schools are subject to the first amendment, that means they're subject to all of the first amendment, not just the first few words.

Social experiment: stand by the door of any public school classroom in which school enrollment is close to 50/50 racially. Tell the students as they enter that they may sit where they choose. Allow all students in, close the door, take notes on how students are dispersed racially.

Not exactly. The Supreme Court has placed pretty nuanced limits on the freedom of speech doctrine. In the case of a public employee subject to adverse action by a public employer, there are a lot of factors including whether the person was speaking as a "private citizen" or a "employee" as well as whether the restriction is content neutral.

I'm fine with it, as long as all teachers, administrators, and public officials that made public statements siding with or condoning the riots in Ferguson and Baltimore be fired as well.

I don't know what to tell you other than it doesn't really work like this.
The fact that religion isn't taught (endorsed) in school has little to do with a school board adjudging the propriety of an administrator's statements and considering how they will be perceived from a person in his/her position.

So while the courts take a very broad and open ended stance on the first phase in the !st Amendment they take a very narrow and "nuanced" view on the second phase. Figures that shite like that would pass for "justice".

Closet bigots and racist who are mostly smart enough to conceal their backwards and hateful views, but are in major positions of powers of black and brown folks.
Honestly, Iber should never work in academia ever again. I would look at everyone of his prior measures with huge scrutiny now.
The problem is that these folks don't think their bigotry will effect their work habits or how they treat others in a professional environment. It's one of the biggest fallacies we have going on in America.
Just because you're smart/rich/"successful" doesn't excuse you from being a shitty person. Your shitty side can always read it's ugly side. You're not immune to it

I really didn't think the video was that bad. And I don't think the principal's comments were offensive in any way.

This guy was removed from his position because his comments were interpreted as insensitive. Hell, I've had a ton of really fricking insensitive things said and done to me in my lifetime, with no consequences to the offender. Should I just go lie down in the corner in the fetal position.
