Here comes the "Assault Knife Ban"...
quote:
'Multiple stabbing victims' were being treated at a Florida hospital Wednesday morning and Tallahassee cops said a suspect was in custody in the incident, which reportedly unfolded at an industrial park.
quote:
At least six people have been hospitalized, according to WCTV, which reported the incident happened at Dyke Industries, a company that provides materials for residential and commercial buildings. The severity of the injuries was not immediately known, but one man who was able to call his wife said he'd been stabbed five times
quote:
A possible motive and the type of weapon used was not immediately clear, either. Authorities were urging anyone with information to contact the Tallahassee Police Department at 850-891-4200.

Mass stabbing
It's the knife's fault, right?

I thought this only happened in England.

Dyke Industries - Probably used scissors.

These weapons of war have no business being in the hands of civilians

Hospitals are gun-free zones, so at least he obeyed that when he went on his murderous rampage.
Edit: Started at an industrial park. I guess he just favors knives.

i understand your argument, i really do... however... how many fatalities? zero reported, thus far, correct? now, contrast that to what we've seen with the recent events in Texas and Ohio... i think that's the BIGGER issue...
also
what, IYO, would be this guy's likelihood of calling home after being shot five times? odds aren't very good, i would think...
and yes, no matter what happens with guns, there will be knife attacks... there's always going to be crazy people around... but using THIS story as some sort of whataboutism, when most people agree that we need to start doing more than we are currently doing about our gun issues, is asinine...
i'm all for responsible people owning guns, legally... whichever one you want, too... but what we are not doing is enforcing the laws we currently have, nor do they go far enough, IMO, to prevent those that can't be trusted with them from having them...

Second hand smoke is horrible. I agree.

it is... which is why we have tried (and succeeded in a large majority of places) to curtail exposure to it, by limitiing where people can smoke...
see, it doesn't have to be an all or nothing solution... but there's no point, in 2019, that we can't have sensible, serious discussion about some of the issues that seem to be averse to society... but to just sit on our hands on this is doing a disservice to society, in general...

I don't disagree with anything you said but when you or anyone else can answer how guns are going to kept out of the hands of those who mean to do bad things, then I might listen.
Of course a knife attack won't have the casualty rate of a gun. That's common sense. Point of the matter is people are too busy blaming the object and not the person.

We need common sense spork laws.

Still kills more people than firearms every year. I get it, it isn’t exactly a newsworthy death. But they still die, 30k+ a year.
In addition to the 500k yearly primary smoker deaths.....
What was it again? About saving just “one” life?

I agree. Let’s start with sugar, alcohol, tobacco, and vehicles. Once we get those deaths down to sub-gun level, we can then focus on guns.
Deal?

Do deaths by those means not mean as much? That's what I want to know.

i do agree, please know this... however, i do think assault rifles and higher capacity weapons, capable of firing/damaging stuff more quickly and efficiently, should be harder to obtain than, say, a hunting rifle or something like that...
i personally think that NO weapon should be completely outlawed... i just feel that if you want a semi auto, of any kind, then there should be more rigorous and restrictive measures set in place to obtain them, to help weed out those that should NOT have them...
we shouldn't outlaw the weapon... we need to place emphasis on outlawing certain people from the weapon...

Who should NOT have them. Let’s start there Chris.
