Probably the majority of “assault rifles” are used for hunting-for feral hogs.Thats why I have one,it is the weapon of choice for hog hunting.

no, i don't... i've said plenty of times now, that you can own any gun, regardless of who you are, even convicted felons... it's just certain guns that law abiding citizens, like yourself i'm sure, should be able to own with no problem, whereas some people either are incapable of having or would be illegally obtaining said guns...

and penalties for gun infractions should be much more severe, IMO

And you still can’t tell the class who these people are. The people that you are trying to take away their right to self defense.

Who are they? Why can’t you dive into the minutiae with me?

Why are you afraid to lay it out?

as well as cattle farming, i think, and other various jobs or reasons... and you should be able to own it, IMO... some other people probably should not... and THAT is my argument... weed those people out, by some addition of different checks and balances, to ensure those with these weapons are responsible for and with them...

i'm not... again, EVERYONE should be able to own a gun... what you do with that gun, as long as it doesn't infringe on anyone's right to life, is YOUR business.... hunt, self-defense, hell, if you wanna lube up that barrell and go to town on it, you do you...

i just don't think that EVERYONE should have access or should be capable of owning EVERY type of gun out there... sorry... that's not taking away their right to self-defense, and i really don't even see how you are trying to make this argument, considering i've said at least 5 times that i'm not for banning any type of gun, at all...

actually, if you go back and read, i stated i'm speaking specifically about high powered weapons only... not sure how you are conflating this issue, at this point, but here we are...

What makes a weapon "high powered"?

well, let's just start with semi-automatics, including handguns... they seem to be popular with mass murders...

guns that can get off a large number of rounds in a very short clip of time... ain't too many shotguns and/or bolt action rifles being used for mass shooting events...

Oh... oh wow. It’s cute how clueless you are.

So a .22 cal handgun is high powered but a bolt action 7mm mag is a okay?

Holy talking point.

But those are high powered guns........ I thought high powered guns were a no no?

You know that germany begged the allies to stop using shot guns in wwi Bc they saw them as inhumane.... right?

So now you're advocating banning all semi-automatic weapons for people who make some arbitrary "list" that you've yet to define.

Interesting.

In any case, I got the answer I was expecting, which tells me you know nothing about firearms and are regurgitating talking points based on emotion.

Since, as I stated earlier, you have yet to address the problem and only the tool.

semantics... but if i have to clarify/simplify/specify what type of gun we are discussing, then i'm a talking about ANY gun that can fire rounds at a high rate of speed... would you not agree that these are more capable weapons of carrying out a mass attack, as opposed to others?

You clearly know next to nothing about firearms or do you call them weapons of war?

There is a problem that can not be solved and it is called Human Evil. Call it abnormal human psychology if you want, call it violent sociopathy, whatever . The point is that it is omnipresent and it’s part of the deal. There are people among us who want to shoot you, stab you, devour your innards, burn you alive , crash your plane, ad infinitum. It is the human condition. Given that, I would choose to live in a free society where risk is heightened then a Coercive State where the government holds all the power and is the instrument of terror. The State in just a handful of countries killed over 100,000,000 in the last century. I will take my chances with freedom and the risk that comes with freedom.

Couldn't agree more. It's been that way since the dawn of man. Until evil isn't an issue anymore, no amount of laws, banning or anything else will work.

So...., any gun that isn’t a muzzle loader or crack barrel?

Nope. Honestly, I think a shotgun would be FAR more effective than any other platform for your typical mass shooting. They happen in close quarters in typically tightly packed spaces. The fact that shotguns aren’t used more is honestly telling that gun choice is entirely based on what they’re told is most effective by the media and movies than what is actually most effective.

nope... i'm saying make the process to obtain them harder, as with greater power, comes greater responsibility... if it's proven that you can't be proven to be responsible, or are prone to being irresponsible, then there should be no reason for you to own THAT type of weapon... period...

provided you are responsible, law abiding gun owner, what are you worried about?

A shotgun can kill a lot of people without having 'high capacity magazines'... just because they are not 'popular' with mass shootings does not make them any more or less deadly.
