News Article-Not Video
So "All" the older women in Florida are reliant on alimony to live?
I'm sure it's closer to the 3,000 she "knows"...

Camille needs to get a job and stop living off her ex husband. It's 2023, she can find something. Lazy heifer.

3k isn't even a lot in terms of voting population haha especially spread across the whole state.
Also how many men will be switching their vote the other way? I'm sure there are a few thousand D voting men in florida paying alimony

No. Protecting your own investments that took place during the marriage (i.e. waiving community property) is one of the top reasons to require a prenup.
Alimony is but a blip on the radar. It's nothing.

Under the plan, people married for less than three years will not be eligible for alimony payments, and those who have been married 20 years or longer will be eligible to receive payments for up to 75 percent of the term of the marriage.
That seems reasonable.
Wait, am I reading this wrong?
You think that being married to someone 20+ years means that the man (most likely) paying alimony for FIFTEEN YEARS "seems reasonable"?

I thought men and women are equal. Why should one person pay for another after divorce?

has no job prospects and a big gap on her resume
that used to be referred to as "bridge the gap alimony," only way it works is the ex should present a detailed rehab plan, with a defined time frame to learn a skill/vocation and that's it, also child support needs to be reformed too, there should be a budget, with the person receiving it should have to account for how the money is spent

The new law will also allow alimony payers to seek modifications if “a supportive relationship exists or has existed” involving their ex-spouses in the previous year. Critics argued the provision is vague and could apply to temporary roommates who help alimony recipients cover living expenses for short periods of time.

A woman filing for divorce and expecting alimony for life is akin to quitting your job and expecting the employer to pay you for life.

Women: want to be treated as equals…until they don’t want to be treated as equals.
It’s the eternal paradox that makes them the illogical creatures that they are.
