I guess you missed the attack? Cop did exactly what he should have done.
You missed a lot of things. You're an idiot.

He was pulling his gun before he ever saw the dog. He was scared because it was barking. He shot the dog as soon as it ran out the door.
The dog was not attacking him.
The dog was not attacking him.

I didn't see an attack? Did you? I saw a dog run out of the door, the cop run and immediately start shooting?
You didn't see an attack because you are not capable of understanding anyone's motives/reactions but your own and that of dogs you see on the internet.
As stated earlier, only a complete dumbass would think that a police officer has to wait until a dog bites him before defending himself.
Also, only a complete dumbass would let his/her dog run up to strangers, because,
Only a dumbass dog owner thinks that everyone else knows as much about the owner's dog as the owner does.
Oh and while I'm on a roll, anyone who places the well-being of their, or any dog, over that of another human being is also (you guessed it) a complete dumbass.

I'm not really sure how you can say this with certainty as the situation never escalated to this point. The dog was shot before he reached the officer. And tail wagging is in no way an indication of friendliness.
Again I don't agree with the officers actions but the legality of the situation is that the dog was "loose" or out of the owners control, and the perception of the officer was that it was acting aggressively. I mean it sucks but this is how it will go down.

And still no response to the cookie selling Girl Scout analogy.

I don't understand why this keeps happening. Are some people really that scared of dogs?
Yes. We had a shite-tzu when I was younger and we would always have to put it in another room when we had guests because some were afraid of it. Others wouldn't eat our food since we kept a dog in the house.

Dog must be under your control at all times whether inside a fence or on a leash. The moment the dog bolts out the door you've lost control of a potentially dangerous animal.
The argument that the cop responded like a bitch is less an argument about legality and more emotional.
Your animal on your property is under your control.
A potential danger is not a danger.
There is no public good served by allowing LEO's to shoot now, make up an excuse later.

Did he enter a fenced yard? Honestly I'm not 100% the legality of the dog being physically on your property but not on a leash or enclosed in a fence. I'm thinking the unfenced pool law applies here. There has to be case law about electric fences somewhere.

quote:You are and idiot and don't know animal behavior. A dog wagging his tail feels no threat and will respond accordingly. I assure you my German Shepard uses his hair on his back and tail to let me know if he feels threatened. The Cop over reacted Period.
And tail wagging is in no way an indication of friendliness.

I'm not anti cop in the least, but why does this keep happening? Is there just a lack of training with a large portion of law enforcement as far as necessary force?

If you come on my PRIVATE PROPERTY you are accepting the consequences of your action. My residence is not public property, stay the frick of my property period.
