The point that seemed to get across was that insurance companies have a vested interest in keeping payouts low as to not rock the boat. I know this isn't for all people who have made claims but it does make sense.

You're right, frivolous class actions with no realistic footing are never filed in this country....

An insurance policy is a legal contract. Is it the insurers fault that you don't understand what is covered vs not covered for a particular policy?

you honestly believe that these companies exist by continuously fricking over their customers you're out of your mind.

Getting something is better than nothing and legally you have to have insurance.

Insurance claims are always a fight.

You think insurance companies exist to help the insured to they best of their abilities?

Have you ever worked in the industry before?

Insurance is built to harp on exclusions and definitions and frick the insured every way it can especially in times like tgisy

Its also the policy holders responsibility to know their policy. You did sign if after all.

Any good insurance adjuster can wiggle out of just about anything.

Don't pretend there's a word of that policy meant to help or protect the insured.

I don't know why this is a conversation. It's a well known fact.

Everyone has insurance, because getting something is better than getting nothing, but people also need to know insurance companies will for the most part try to frick you.

Like any business, they look after their bottom line first

t's going to get dicey with these mother frickers. They will do whatever it takes to not have to pay out. The wind-driven water debate after Katrina lasted for years.

You realize flood is not paid out by the insurance companies that write it? It is the federal govt.

Also... If most people wouldn't be so damn adamant about having the cheapest shite possible you may get better service.

Sewer backup vs back flooding is the defining misunderstanding here

Bad adjuster. Every single step of the way no one that stepped into the house could believe his $80,000 "miscalculation". His first words on the property were "Well, this doesn't look that bad!"
I'm not going to argue this and let's just say I'm very very familiar with the construction industry, but the whole house was torqued and all the insulation was wet, and most of the nails on three sides of the house were popped. We had a 50 foot gaping hole in the roof with a 150 foot water oak through it. Water was pouring in between hurricanes and we aren't even talking contents of the house yet.
The initial low ball and the "non charitable" aspect of their business model was a nightmare.

Hell, we had to fight the insurance company all the way when our house got crushed by a tree during Gustav.

This is Homeowners, not Flood, I wish people would stop confusing the two. They are handled and treated very differently by insurance companies and correlations are basically pointless.

And a lifetime claimant knows how to work the system just as well. If if wasnt for all of those types, the insurance companies and adjusters could be a lot more lenient.

You legally have to have auto insurance.

You do not legally have to have Life, Home, Flood, workers comp, etc.

and yes insurance companies missions at their core is to help people recover as best as possible. Pay what they owe, nothing more, nothing less.

I've worked on the legislative side as well as within the P and C industry for years.

There are bad situations in all industries, but please let's ignore the millions of instances that insurance companies have made their customers whole after a loss or a death

Not saying all are bad by any means, there are some good ones out there. However it's ignorant to say that there has not been, at least some, questionable cases just in south Louisiana over the past couple major storms.
