Why don't you ask an agent?
Or at least someone who supposedly says their an agent.

Underwriters write the policies.
Adjusters examine those polices and the claim and abide by the laws, regulations, policy, etc.
Agents sell.

Agents are the used car salesman and the adjusters/underwriters are the mechanics. Which should know the inner workings of the car better?

Homeowners policies are usually pretty standard and sometimes agents know them better than say workers comp, but the adjuster is the end of the line. Agent can spout off whatever they want, but that doesnt make it true.

But why are insurance companies necessary?

They allow people, or businesses, to pool risk and enable affordable coverage. You couldn't afford to set aside enough money to replace your house or business. Thus, insurance.

The point being there will be difficulties working to "get whole" again. Don't kid yourself and think it'll be easy. That's naive as shite or you are in insurance.

There are many forms of underwriters and lots of them are just quoters off of their systems and don't always understand their own policy conditions and exclusions.

yeah, that's their job description, doesn't mean they do any of the above correctly.

doesn't matter, consumer chooses the cheapest option regardless.

It shouldn't be dicey. Insurance adjusters are usually liberal as shite when it comes to flood insurance, as it is paid out by the govt. It isn't the same at all as the State Farm situation and wind damage during Katrina

That is their mission. Whether or not that is achieved each and every time is obviously a different story.

Cheapest option doesnt matter. When a claim is submitted it isnt the agent that handles it. The adjuster is the one making the decision. Point being is that it doesnt matter what the agent says regarding the claim.

This is true.

However, we all know there are people who post here that are in the industry. Hence, this thread.

its not our job to. but adjusters are not the end all be all neither. it goes back to company decisions and circumstantial situations that agents do have dialogue with companies about certain things.

You want us to applaud insurance companies for sometimes doing what they have been paid for and are contractually obligated to do? Lulz
