kind of immaterial, he's right, eyewitness testimony is one of the most, if not the most unreliable evidence/testimony
The FBI interviewed over 700 people until they refused to take further testimony. That was early on before any theories had formed. While three people seeing the same event from different angles may not be the most reliable, hundreds on a beautiful clear summer day at the beach would require a "mass hallucination" event of epic proportions.
My former brother-in-law did a lot of fishing and had his boat very near to where Flight 800 went down. He kept his ship to shore radio on most of the time to follow his buddies and get tips on fishing locations. He heard it from his fishing buddies out on the water who reported that an airliner was just shot down by a missile. Most speculation was that it was a terrorist attack. He took his boat out and picked up bodies all night.
(Grok said over 700 interviews with 200 being highly similar).

Amazing how many people were looking up at that plane at that very moment. It's not like airlines don't ever fly over New York.

Mass hallucination by hundreds on the beaches, fishing and flying on a beautiful clear summer day must have been caused by DC swamp gas!
It was 8:30 at night, so, dark or close to it.

Baur reportedly told officials immediately after the event that he thought he saw a missile.
And yet not a single bit or piece of shrapnel found anywhere. Its almost as if the plane was struck by a meteor

Mentour Pilot on YouTube has an excellent synopsis of the disaster. Worth your time if AvGeek

I remember Eddie George saying his mom was supposed to be a flight attendant on that flight but took time off to see him sign his rookie contract.

This is one of the reasons I’m currently afraid of flying. This shite scarred me as a kid. That, Valuejet plunging into the Everglades, and more.

It is obvious that it was a meteor that was breaking up and there was a magnetic connection between the plane and the mineral rich meteor.

I happened to watch it last week. He covers it well. Empty center fuel tank that was hotter than usual due to a truck that broke down behind the plane when it wanted to pull away from the gate. The heat generated by the A/C vents near the center fuel tank. The tank wasn't quite empty and with the heat the vapor in the fuel tank was explosive. It just took a spark. It's a known problem that airlines try to avoid by having no ignition source. But wires do run through the tank. We'll never know the exact ignition source but the wreckage is consistent with an internal tank explosion rather than a missle.

major problem with a lot of conspiracy theories
The major problem is that almost none of them are actually conspiracy theories.

My late SO's brother was on the FBI's NY field office dive team and was involved in the recovery. I think it fricked him up mentally.

Around 258 witnesses mentioned a "streak of light." Of those who specified its origin, most (roughly 96 out of 102 in one early analysis) said it started from the surface or horizon, while a few said from the air. Not all streaks were described as rising vertically; some appeared more horizontal or descending.
IIRC the NTSB had the investigation taken away and the recoverd plane parts were all stored in a warehouse offlimits to personnel not cleared to be there. I was thinking the FBI took a large role here.
There were many theories of terrorism but there was a hot one that there was a naval exercise going on and somebody f'd up and shot an airliner down.

I go to a beach where I see a lot of airliners at about 10k feet coming into the landing flight path. They are about 3 minutes apart. Watching the big aircraft cruising always catches my eye unless there is a good beach volley ball game going on or something of the sort.
