Just admit this punishes residents of the counties absorbing the debt and you don’t care about the average family paying more in taxes just to spite Disney.

No, I don’t care about Floridians and their local taxes lol.

And neither do you. Progs love taxes. You’re just salty that elementary kids won’t be brainwashed by your perv allies.

So you left and chose to move back to a place you don't like... Makes total sense

Or a legislative action creating one... Maybe a special sales tax on any area with monorail service.

That’s certainly a thought.

Assuming Reedy Creek (not Disney) actually owns/operates the monorail service, anyhow.

I’m fairly sure that any kind of targeted taxation designed to avoid creation of an actual tax district would, at a minimum, wind up in a protracted legal battle. That’s a bit of a slippery slope.

The left wants big corporations and billionaires to run the country and make the law now.

They strip the voice from the people and give it to big tech and big corp.

I bet you’re one of the many liberals who say “if churches get political then their tax exemptions should be abolished”.

Had a great job waiting for me at home. All my friends and family are here. I love living in FL never said I didn’t like it. No place has it all and Disney just happens to be a negative about Orlando. Certainly wasn’t gonna live in LA. It’s fun to visit and go to college but def wasn’t going to live there.

what happens to Reedy Creek’s $105 million/yr in tax collections. According to Scott Randolph, the Orange County tax collector, it disappears.

Randolph is a Democrat in a county dominated by Democrats. He was hand picked by party to run for this office when previous guy died during re-election. He even got a job at the office to get paid before being sworn in. He was a state rep before. He is heavily involved in state Democratic Party and it’s antics.

Your argument was that anyone who disagrees with you supports child grooming by pedophiles. Hard to take anything you say seriously.

Lol I live in Florida champ. I pay a crap load in taxes and I assure you I don’t love them. These ridiculous arguments are brainwashing elementary school children and assuming it’s a mic drop are getting old. Come up with a rational argument based in reality.

I don’t doubt he is, but the county simply will inherit the debt.

quote:

“The procedures that we have will transfer that indebtedness to the general-purpose local governments,” said Sen. Jennifer Bradley (R–Clay County), the bill’s sponsor in the Florida Senate.
That is coming from the bills sponsor. Short of going in a circle and setting Disney up as a special district again, the county has to find a way to pay the debt, and that recourse is taxes

Fair enough. I don’t pretend to be an expert, all I know is that there appear to be differing opinions on how this works in practice. The guy making the counter argument is a Republican state representative who sponsored the bill.

(ETA: I’m referencing the guy who said Disney’s tax payments to Reedy Creek would transfer over to the counties, not the state senator quoted in the post above. It seems pretty clear that other municipalities will inherit the bonds regardless.)

I’m a little surprised I can’t find more analysis on this, but it seems like a fairly obscure/uncommon situation.

A) Orlando is a glorified swamp and will become more so over the next 50 years. Honestly anyone and any corporation planning anything but get rich quick schemes in just about that whole state is going to be left standing on a shifting sandbar waiting for the final hurricane.

B) I can honestly say I have never seen a group of people more so absorbed by a single issue. Yes, child sex abuse is horrible and you should work to bring perpetrators to justice. But Jesus were y’all sexually abused as children? Is this why this issue to so all-consuming to you? I am assuming most of you still go to church, and both Catholics and the Evangelicals have historical GOAT status when it comes to that.

I scanned the thread but didn't see how paying property taxes on 42 square miles of developed land would offset the new debt, if at all.

I can't fully believe any argument that implies the special tax status of Disney actually hurt them, which is what is happening when it's claimed that this change helps Disney.

You’re such a fricking cuck. This has been addressed. It’s not that difficult. Disney was running a deficit on purpose for tax reasons. Reedy creek was borrowing money on purpose.. most of it from Disney itself. It was an accounting trick. You’re such a bitch.
