Let’s say we’re all standing in a circle around the leg, and we all know it needs to go on ice. Who’s picking up the leg and who’s giving up their ice chest? Owlie will already be posting about it so he’s out. Oweo will still be replying some driveling diatribe to a post from 4 days ago. So who are the two heroes? I don’t even leave the condo bar so I’m out.

I have already had several opportunities to play the hero in OR.

Had a case for surgery on a HUGE teen boy who had jumped off a pier on top of riprap. Only a thin strip of skin was holding his foot on to his leg. Middle of the night life flight and wake the hospital pharmacist at home to make antibiotic impregnated beads to be strung together and wrapped around the surgical area.

As we skeleton crew were prepping the patient and room for the procedure the patient had a lucid second and rolled over as I was walking by. He tossed the injured leg over the edge of the bed and I had to instinctively act to catch both the leg and the nearly severed foot to avoid further injury.

Many hours later the patient was back in one piece and on the road to recovery. I also was party to the removal of the antibiotic beads about 6 months later. Nasty nasty infections despite the presence of antibiotic.

Nature is scary indeed!

using meter is bad enough, but spelling it metre?

You can’t spell meat eater without meter, but then again a leg is less efficient without a foot.

I don't think serious people believe that, but two things are true

1) You're statistically very unlikely to ever be attacked by a shark

2) when you go into the water its no different than hiking in bear country. You've dropped down a few pegs on the food chain, Predators going to predator.

Some university did a study using aerial imagery on how often swimmers at the beach are close to not just sharks, but large ones.... its like 99% of the time

Fortunately he’s still got the one leg left, but unfortunately he’s going to be all right.

I was in a second-hand store the other day, and a one-armed man walked in. I told him, “You’re not going to find what you’re looking for.”

They actually don't. Great Whites are famous for just taking a bite of human and then spitting them out. Unfortunately, one bite is enough.

There is good news... You can rid yourself of Great White problems by importing a pod of Orcas. They will burn through an entire coastal population of Great Whites within months.

South Freaking Africa.
