This might be the only weekend we could make it. Anyone with experience going up there, is it ridiculously packed and not worth going on the first Saturday or Sunday? Crowd may determine whether or not this happens. TIA.

Bring a Samurai sword and publicly insult their old Anglo Saxon ways demonstrating the superiority of the curved death

It’s amazing for people watching. Some people go all out with the costumes and act. Plus there is always some women wearing chain mail for bra’s.

I hear it gets pretty freaky around there after dark.

Yes it will be crowded. Saturday if you want more of an adult experience as kids get in free on Sundays. Sunday has a 60% chance of rain so that might drive some people away, but bring a poncho because there is not much covered space.

I've been a bunch of times, but never the opening weekend.

Are you camping or going for the day? I've camped at least one weekend for the past 10 years.

The titties, beer, and bonfire make it worth staying for the camping part. Those ren fest folks let em fly after dark.

I went around 10 years ago while I was there visiting family. It was awesome food, just about anything you want deep-fried and meats on a stick. The costumes were awesome, mostly hand made and maybe authentic?

Then I went last year with family and it was complete crap. People wearing costumes they bought on clearance at Spirit Halloween, and a bunch of weirdos.

Ahhh, it is a ren fest. Weirdos are part of it. Three years ago I woke up to find smeared hand prints and a dress on the hood of my truck. Some couple went to pound town on my truck and forgot to take their dress with them.

I was disappointed because I was sleeping 15 feet away and didn't hear any of it.

Oh I get what comes with it, it's basically a cosplay festival, but this was beyond that. Like I said, cheap clearance aisle Spirit Halloween costumes was just the tip.

We had an AP World History teacher (and chaperones) take a group of us in 10th grade.

That was an eye opening experience, to say the least.

I seen't some shite on that trip.
