In order of least useful...
Travel agents, insurance agents, car salesmen, realtors.
Realtors actually provide a useful service IMO. The other three should be obsolete. It kind of amazes my insurance agents are so prevalent. With everything we do being tracked we should have some algorithm that comes up with rates pretty much automatically (much lower without commission fees).

That’s such a millennial statement. I prefer cable to streaming for many reasons besides just pushing a button. One of the main reasons is sports coverage and live events.
You been living under a rock the last few years?

which is a problem IMO. Insurance agents are useless and provide nothing that actually benefits society.

No haggle dealerships are for the weak if you have a trade.
The new car is a commodity with a known value. The trade in can vary quite a lot.
And as said above, the F&I office is where the money is made on the new car end.

So what line of business are you in? Some people still use these professions as they aren't 100% low ball like you.

I am a corporate travel agent.
We cant hire enough agents and work nonstop dealing with business travelers and their issues.
We have 32 calls holding right now as I screw around here. And we only deal with One account.
We aint going no where.

These will not go away.
They'll never go away, but will be diminished. Who the hell needs a travel agent?

Hey dude..........who needs a travel agent???
Have your flight get cancelled as you sit in the airport.................We the travel agents can get you on a flight (sometimes get an upgrade) get you a free hotel room and/ or get you going before your freaking wi-fi kicks in.
We have so many more resources than google ever will.

Travel agents are completely unnecessary. You can book everything online and buy a travel guide to read up on what you need to know.
Car salesmen are annoying, but it's kind of fun to get in the haggle war to see just low you can get the price.
Realtors are necessary for people who don't have the time to do everything on their own.

Of the three... travel agents would be the first to go, as there are already very few full time ones left. Most are part time / stay at home moms who plan disney trips for people too lazy to book their own dining reservations.
Now corporate travel agents will probably always have work.
But personal ones make very little commission these days. I dealt with one once, we had a group of us going on a cruise and one of the people wanted to have all of us use their "super awesome" travel agent. I hated it... any time I wanted to make a payment, book something, change something, etc I had to go through the agent. PITA.

All of these aren’t going anywhere.
Travel agents are concierges. They may not provide value to you and me, but there is certainly a market for them. Some people don’t want to be bothered with travel planning. Their clients tend to be either older or higher end (excl corporate travel).
Realtors still have the upper hand due to residential real estate requiring a local presence. Like travel agents, they offer a service. Don’t use it if you don’t need it.
Car Salesmen are part of a sales model that generates a lot of tax dollars for local governments. Local leadership doesn’t want that to change. Just look at the fights Tesla had with local governments.

If an agent locates/creates a customer through prospecting where previously there was not one, and that client than receives a large death claim on a term life insurance policy, would that agent have provided a service that benefits the customer/ society?
What about a travel agent that is familiar with a 5star convention property, negotiates a deal for a Fortune 500 company, and arranges every tiny detail of a 500 person convention in a foreign country? Is that person useless?
What about a commercial real estate agent that has pocket properties in the perfect locations who can put together a deal in a week?
I know people who do all three at a high level. I respect all their contributions as do their cients. People who don't appreciate the value other people provide tend to have infantile minds .

Not a millennial but imo the total unreliableness of ISP’s and constant switching of inputs apps and bullshite is excessive. You can’t tell me it’s not annoying to swap out off app after app to “channel surf” ball games on a Saturday. I did it once and it was annoying as shite if I wanted to watch games that were on espn then swap to a cbs or fox game. Also I’m forced to watch horrendous commercials

None, because some people will always want things done for them. That's why cable TV still exist, people like to push a button rather than do a little work.

I look at it from the perspective of what could go wrong and hassle level.
I’ve been on 4 big trips in the past 4 years and not used a travel agent. Not much can go wrong and if it does, it’s not that big a deal.
I buy my cars from a salesman most times but I can see how the process will eventually lead to buying without a salesman. So many apps out there and it’s not a huge investment. Not that much can go wrong.
I wouldn’t consider buying a house without a real estate agent. Too much at stake and too much can go wrong. Tons of paperwork too. I need someone to handle that.
That said, the business is a lot different than 20 years ago. Buyers weed stuff out easily now. Agents don’t have to show everything out there

Job recruiters should be up there..
But salesmen will never go away. No matter what, you can't beat human to human communication.
