First Thanksgiving without any parents for both me and my wife.

Mine both passed over a decade ago, but her mom passed in March.

I’ve never not spent Thanksgiving at either mine or my wife’s parents. Neither of us has ever cooked a Turkey or dressing. Always brought a side dish and desert. How did I get to be 50 and never cooked a fricking Turkey? This should be fun.

Just buy a fried turkey or one already cooked.

Or start a new tradition of going to a nice steak house.

I opted out on turkey this year and we’re doing 2 Honey baked hams with a lot of sides. Focus on the visit and not the food.

Wife and I were watching a bunch of videos last night on how to cook a turkey since we are in the same situation.

Too late. My fridge and countertops look like we are preparing to feed an entire baptist church…there will be 6 people total.

It's the least relaxing and rewarding holiday to me.

Go to Dinner and celebrate a new way of Thanksgiving together to take the pressure off.
Next year do it at home.
Will be easier.
Just my thoughts.

Was always my favorite. But I just had to help load the car and put whatever side my wife cooked and the apple pie in the car. And claim my spot on the couch for a nap. Wifes got me cooking cornbread for dressing, boiling eggs and peeling potatoes.

My mom’s dressing was so good but she never wrote down the recipe, just one of the things we take for granted. Will never be able to taste that again

You’ll learn that the old hens in the kitchen generally cook a dry tasteless turkey.

Follow a good recipe, butter underneath the skin and outside, inject it etc.

Do not get a frickin frozen turkey. Costco has fresh ones

Sorry about your loss.

Cooking a Turkey is very easy. It’s probably too late for you to do one for tomorrow , but try one for Christmas. I enjoy smoking or frying one.

I cook a turkey in a large turkey roasting bag. It's so easy. Slip the washed and seasoned turkey into the bag and add cut up apples, onions, garlic, carrots, celery and potatoes in the bag also. Seal it good and place in the oven set the time and temperature according to the cooking bag instructions. This cooking method produces a tender, best tasting and juicy turkey. As a bonus the oven stays perfectly clean. I highly recommend oven cooking bags....especially turkey cooking bags.

Family get togethers suck

I’m currently running around town trying to find a premade chocolate cake….because for some reason I have to bring a chocolate cake to Thanksgiving. Not pie like normal Americans, a fricking cake.

Kige Ramsey has an excellent video on YouTube tailormade for people in your situation. He recorded a live call to the butterball turkey hotline. Very informative.

Buy one already cooked or go to Cracker Barrel. Don't make it more work than it has to be.

Haven't cooked one in years myself. The last time I did I just followed instructions of the wrapper and when the probe popped up that was a wrap.
