They are amazing dogs. My family had several growing up and loved them. I really want to get one but the wife wants a golden doodle.

Little dudes kennel is right by my bed.
I found your problem.

I’m all for kenneling. But going in, you know a puppy is going to whine for 2-3 weeks at night - minimum.

Why in God’s name would you put the kennel near your bed?

Good luck. It gets better and can get better quick depending on how consistent you are.

You need to move the kennel somewhere away from you and put in earplugs for a week.

Cover the kennel with a blanket- it helps them to feel more secure/cozy. Our 3 month old puppy whined the first three nights we had him, so I gave it a shot. He never whined again

So far no whining. My wife wonders why my other one is so bonded to me. It’s because of this period right here. Taking it out 3-4 times a night and “protecting” it. Establishing the pack leader relationship. I find that if you establish a strong bond with the dog during this 8-12 week period, the training goes 1000% smoother in weeks 13-20.

Put your worn socks/T-shirts in where both dogs sleep. Might help if they smell you.
