The rapid humanization of pets has been amazing to see. 30 years ago dogs were usually an outside pet. Today we let them lick and bite our fingers to calm their nerves when they cannot sleep.

Judeo-Christian interpretation of the Bible that humans have dominion over animals has been replaced/has changed for most people to mean that each person has responsibility for animal welfare.

It will be interesting to see how quickly American society evolves to adopt Buddhists’, Jains’ and many Hindus’ beliefs that animals should not be used by humans as food or for other purposes.

Went threw that not too long ago. Really only lasted a couple weeks before he could hold it over the night.

I could not agree more. Our Yorkie first got into our bed while on a trip in our RV when it was storming. This was 8 years ago and we have not been able to sleep close to each other since. She is only 7 pounds, but she takes her third of the bed. She also wakes me up in the morning by tapping on my leg.

I put mine in the bed day 1 and he's been sleeping there ever since, seven years.

Having grown up with one and had one as an adult, I think it's part of the breed standard. The one I had as a kid would guard the cookies my mother would make for the holidays.

Then there's the coonhound mix I have now who likes to chew shite she's not supposed to chew despite her having all kinds of chew toys.

I haven’t read the entire thread, but there’s your first mistake.

Put that dog in the kennel elsewhere overnight and leave it alone. Anytime you give it attention, you’re teaching him that the whining and crying works and he won’t stop.

It sucks and it takes a few days, but you have to let it scream it out.

Not sure why you got so many downvotes.. some bitter MFers on this site that hate their own lives I guess.

Puppies are great and usually takes a few months for the older dog to accept. Once it happens they will hang out all the time.

Just because you have “dominion” over something doesn’t mean you have to treat it like shite.

Yes and no i have a 11 week old pup and i would get up every time he whined to let him out to pee then right back to the kennel. it sucked usually 2-3 times a night. but i stayed consistent and now he knows if he whines it's straight outside. The colder weather has been a huge help as he hates going out in it. so no more whining.

You, sir, can eat a dick.

Mine doesn’t shed. Sorry, I don’t like dog hair all over my house. Mine is loyal as can be and was house trained after about 2 weeks. Smart and is very protective of the house.

Nothing worse with a self righteous scumbag who thinks they know everything about other peoples business.

You call this ugly? Coolest dog on the planet.

He needs a haircut

I gladly paid a little extra to live dog hair free for the next 10+ years of having a dog. It's a fairly simple trade off to understand.

With all due respect, yes that is ugly. Looks like some sort of Sesame Street character instead of a dog.
