Mine passed away long before I was old enough to drink.

My dad drank one while he watched me pour a case out when I was 18 for getting pulled over for doing 76 in a 45 with a case of beer in the back. That count?
I don't remember the first beer I ever actually drank with him though. But we're drinking buddies.

Dad doesn't drink. Thanks for making me feel like our relationship is inadequate

Dad has given me sips here and there growing up. First real whole beer with him was probably at a boucherie when I was 15 or so.
First time getting absolutely smashed with him was when I went with him and his friends to a Rush concert in 2010.

I was maybe 15 or 16. At a rodeo and won a check. Unsaddling my horse and dad opened a beer. Asked if I could have one and he let me. Wasn't my first one by a long shot but first one with him

That was quite the day. We were driving cross country and just had an accident in the desert.

He had given me sips of his beer when I was young here and there. But my first official beer with him was on my 18th birthday on our way to College Station for an LSU-A&M game. Stopped at Hooters. It was pretty awesome. I was a freshman at LSU. Me and the old man went to over 100 LSU games together before he died in 2010.

When I was 17 and he used to bring me play pool at Gros' bar we shared our first beer together.
Edit: That first beer was weird, but I felt like a badass.

I had my first beer with dad the first day of my first leave from the Army. He was a veteran of WWII.

Tailgating before the 1997 LSU vs UF game. I was a senior in high school, my younger brother and mom stayed home that day (bro had just had sinus surgery).
I will never forget my dad was chatting with some buddies he went to the ice chest came over handed me a budlight, and said GEAUX TIGERS, his buddy did the same thing for my friend.
We thought it was cool as frick. LSU won that night me and my dad rushed the field together and took a swig of his crown at midfield! One of the best days of my life

Most Gumps have their first beers through the placenta.

Yeah I was definitely 12-13. And I hated it and pretended I loved it.

My father was murdered when I was 3 years old. Still unsolved 30 years later. So I don't think I'll ever get a first beer with him.
Tell me again how surreal it was?
Sorry to hear about your dad.
It was surreal in the sense that I didn't think I'd have the opportunity to have that moment with him and that it took 24 years to happen.
Back when I was younger, about from birth to 12, my dad was my best friend. We hung out all the time, he'd pick me up every day from school, went fishing, watched every Auburn game together and I looked up to him like any son would. I didn't understand a lot of the things he was going through during those years of my life. He went through losing his job to bankruptcy and one day he just wasn't around anymore and very difficult to get in touch with. I would go long periods of time without seeing him and the longest I went was somewhere around a year and a half long. One day he showed up at my grandparents house and in bad shape. I guess that was a turning point for him and since then he's been around like he used to be. This was about 6 years ago. I'm glad to have him back in my life and he's still my best friend.

I was 17 and my Dad, Mom and I went out to a local sports bar in town after my HS football game for dinner. Dad asked me "you want a beer?" And of course I smiled like a Cheshire Cat and said yes. It was a Rolling Rock (I was 17 and didn't know any better :) )

Not old enough yet, and my dad doesn't drink (or doesn't drink very often) what's a good beer to share when I turn 21 and can offer him one?
