How much money do they make from selling in those tents?
Where do they even buy their inventory cuz Fireworks are probably ridiculously marked up to sell.

I imagine that would be entirely dependent on how much they sell, don't you think?

I don't think they do it for charity.

Still a damn travesty that you can’t buy bottle rockets anymore.

It’s a bigger company that gives you everything. What you make completely depends on how much you sell. If you sell over a certain amount, the percentage that you take home increases.

Some can make a lot. They make enough in two holidays to hold them over for a year. You need to get a good spot though.
Unsold merchandise either gets stored for a year or two, or the people they buy the fireworks from buy them back and reuse them for new fireworks.
And yes, Crazy Jay parties hard

If you have never been a participant in a roman candle battle down a long hallway in a freshman dorm, you have not participated in the full university experience.
You can't buy bottle rockets anymore?
Evidently America really is going down the tubes.

You can in Mississippi. Right up 61 for BR folks. The first shop you see across the line(I prefer the one with a good wooden portable shop just south of Natchez) will have the classic Moontravelers as well as some much better Black Cat versions.
I get 4 of these when I pass by.

Bottle rockets have not been for sale in La for probably 25 years.
We used to make sparkler bombs, but now the sparkles are made in a way that doesn’t work

Of course you can.
*Why do people think these are outlawed? Most places have the 12 packs for $1.50
Unless you mean the small penny rockets, yes, those are outlawed

The small kind were banned in ebr in the 80s because of some serious fires.
The ones I posted above are nowhere to be found in South Louisiana.
Looks like La has a law that requires they be bigger than the small versions. Revised again in 2012. Search for "Bottle" in this pdf

I think he’s talking about a specific kind of bottle rocket but doesn’t want banned by saying what it is.

Big timers who have multiple stands likely import their own, Mom and pop stands buy from wholesalers.
Inlaws have had a stand for going on 20 years. Everybody in town knows them so they stay busy. After paying expenses they clear 30-40k.
Lots of mark up in fireworks. The big 500g cakes you pay $80 for cost them about half that. Bottle rockets are typically priced at cost to draw people in. Sometimes they are priced at a loss.

They actually make a lot of money. From what I understand, during the 4th of July they make enough to pay for everything.. Some make a small profit and then at Christmas time, that is all profit.

A year with rain can probably torpedo them as wel.
Posted on 7/1/18 at 8:41 pm to Dizz
Yeah, if it's raining you are probably selling well under half what you normally would

They make their money off the kids stuff....The Bigger items, they make money too but the markup is not as high (probably about double).
My brother has 7-8 stands and gets most of his stuff from Missouri and the rest from Gretna.
