Fired St. Tammany deputy Is the latest to join the #metoo movement; sues the department

Central to the suit is Richard’s interactions with fellow deputy Patrick Penton, who Richard claims harassed him because of his age, calling him “old man.”

The sad thing is, if you reverse the genders, the female deputy would likely own the parish after the dust settles.

Damnit Speedy. I was coming to Post this. It’s easy to read between the lines here. This guy didn’t get along with the other Deputy’s on his shift and they razzed him some with the “old man” bit because it annoyed him. It reached the point that he starts malingering for a minor injury so they stick him in the radio room to teach him a lesson. From that point on this guy was solely looking for any possible chance to sue.
People like this don’t get it. You might win some money or an accommodation off of this but you won’t ever want to work there again and now, after this bullshite lawsuit, no one else is going to hire you. Either suck it up or resign and get another job. I hate this pussy sue everyone for anything nation we have become. FWIW, there are legit sex harassment suits. File one when your male supervisor demands booty sex or oral in return for a promotion. Then I will back you.

I work in the federal government and 99.5% of discrimination claims are garbage. If you're terminally lazy or a complete a-hole and you get fired, the next step is to file an ADA discrimination or hostile work environment claim. If you're over 45 years old, a minority or a female, you're pretty much untouchable.

I just read the entire article. I agree with you. The guy was probably a shitty deputy for whatever reason and his shift hated him. They find a reason to pull him off the road and knowing his can't type for shite, they stick him in the radio room hoping he'd quit or gave them a reason to fire him.
I know officers and deputies in their 50s who are doing just fine on the road. This guy probably just sucked at his job. I'd be interested to see how long he was employed as a St. Tammany deputy because at 49 years old, he should've moved up in rank by now.
Anybody who goes to the EEOC is a piece of shite in my book. They'll give the green light to sue for just about anything. You have to have an absolutely horrible case to get told to frick off.

Not just that, he claims he was docked $10,000/year in pay. I could be wrong but isn't that what they call in this particular gentleman's line a work a clue?
I could imagine this being a pretty decent cut in pay for a deputy. If that isn't a subtle enough way to say they didn't want him around anymore, I don't know what is.
