Figuring out percentages

I hate math, its usually one ear and out the other. While I can figure out percentages while I'm in store, figuring out sales prices (in my head). I'm not sure how to compare two numbers and get the percentages.
Say 1,620 people die a day from cancer, and 96 people a day die from gun violence, what is the percentage of people who die from cancer than guns per day.
It's for a paper I have to write. I used a online calculator but they had like 3 options and I'm just not sure. You can just tell me how to work the problem, I can figure it out from there. There are multiple I have to work.

Percentages are for pussies. Stick with estimates they will treat you much better 99% of the time.

Percentage of people who die from X = Number of people who die from X / Number of people who die from anything

1687.5% more people die from cancer per day than from gun deaths.

Add 1,620 + 96.
The divide 1,620/answer. And then divide 96/answer
The divide 1,620/answer. And then divide 96/answer

Measure the angle of the sun, and the distance of the shadow. That will give you the height of the light pole.
It's some kind of geometry crap.

1620+96=1716
1620/1716=.944 move decimal 2 places to right equals 94%
96/1716=.0559 or 5.6% when using rounding rules
