I don’t believe that is the case. Do you have the statute on that?

Each time through Pine Prairie mine has “miraculously” been 8mph over the posted speed limit of 35 and it goes to 35 in an absolute hurry. The same sister fricking city cop is sitting behind the same fricking fence row as the last time I passed through. I hate that place.

Forest Hill has the same scam but if you’re not over 10 they cite you for a seat belt violation $25

And this is whether or not you were actually in violation of the seatbelt law?

Mayor’s courts operate in a gray area of Louisiana law. Like municipal courts, they handle violations of local ordinances. Municipal judges must hold a law degree and pass the bar; a mayor can preside over court without meeting any qualifications. Yet, like a municipal judge, a mayor can impose fines or sentence people to jail.

If this aint some Louisiana corruption...

If that same setup was in Belarus or Bolivia, the State Department would have a 100-page white paper decrying the corruption.

I got cited by the Olla police (mayor’s court) for traveling in the left lane on a state highway. I hadn’t seen another car on the road in ten minutes.

A friend of ours got ticketed for running a red light there. Going hunting at 3:30 in the morning. He stopped, nobody coming so he eased on through. He didn't see the police car parked down the side street.

This is false. You can get a speeding ticket for 1mph over the limit.

The state has a shite ton of LRS 32 codes that deal with traffic violations. Most municipalities pass a local ordinance that mirrors the state LRS 32 codes so when they write the violation they use the local ordinance so they keep the money.

Most go like this
0-10 MPH over = x amount in fines
11-20 = higher than above
So on an so forth.

I thought the Legislature passed something a few years back that if you were less than 10 mph over, the fine had to go to the state instead of the municipality. I thought it was specifically to curb the rinky dink speed traps.

Got one in Waterproof, LA. Cop just sits there all day collecting revenue for their shithole town. Pretty sure I was just the wrong cracker in the wrong town. Thing is.. I had a radar detector and knew he clocked me before I was even out of the 55mph zone going to 35 or whatever it was. But I didn’t feel like conducting the people’s court on the side of the road when I had to get back to Georgia.

Yeah, so they just lie.

Was following my wife in her SUV on Hwy 190 a couple years ago. Coming down a bridge I see a cop at the bottom. My cruise control and hers was set on 75 mph. It’s a 70 mph zone. As soon as I saw the cop, I looked at my speedometer and my Garmin GPS, both showing 75 mph and my wife was several car lengths ahead of me and going the same speed. As we pass the cop, he pulls out and hits his lights, goes past me and pulls In behind my wife. Writes her a ticket for 80 in a 70. Baldwin Mayors court fricking scam. I would bet my life that he lied about 80 mph. fricking piece of shite cop. Hope he gets arse cancer.

Yes you can but the legislature says the villages can’t keep the $$.
Popo clocked me 5 over and offered the seat belt cause he knew forest hill wasn’t in da money on a speeding ticket.

So you had enough wherewithal to know that there wasn’t a car on the road for 10 minutes, but you couldn’t slip on over to the right lane for a bit?

OPD should’ve locked you up baw!

I don’t believe this is correct…

See my anecdotes on Pine Prairie. They are still raking in thousands a day from this bullshite. It takes officer a-hole 7 minutes to write me a ticket for 43 in a 35 each time through that crap station. I hope their city hall burns to the ground tonight.

This is why I always run a radar detector. These small town cops always have their radar gun on 100% of the time. I get a read on them over a mile away. If they were smart they would learn from the state troopers and use instant on radar. But they aren’t smart which is why they are small town cops.

He was giving you a break. It has nothing to do with a state law.

Maybe it was just proposed and didn’t pass. That would not surprise me in the least
