Has anybody seen if it has to be one generator to get reimbursed or is it just a combined amount up to 800? Let's say I needed to get two to use in parallel.

Anybody call them? How long should I expect to be on hold or on the phone?

Ya, I got denied right from the start because I didnt say I needed assistance right this second.

I also have my in-laws living with us until they get power, so we'll likely have to call for them as well.

I applied on 09/05 and got denied the next day for the housing due to having insurance.

My sister, my parents, and my girlfriend (she's pending) all got the misc 500. My sister filled it out a couple days before me and the rest after me. The only difference in the application was that I was able to get to my home and that I was staying in it. We all clicked the misc (gas, etc) box.

I don't get it....

ETA: I was without power for 5 days, so it wasn't like I didnt have expenses. I bought the gas, window units, etc to keep everything running.

This is my scenario for the most part.

The hold times have gotten shorter....shouldn’t be more than 5 minutes.

Me too. BUT, I bought my stuff in preparation for the storm before 8/25. No relief for those of us that thought ahead I guess.

Need some help in getting the $500 reimbursement payment. I'm trying to get reimbursement for food items from our freezer. Mostly my wife and I lost a lot of frozen breast milk that we will now be replacing with formula.

I applied last week and got denied for the Individuals and Household Program. I called them, and they told me they were trying to verify my place of residence. I uploaded my utility bill to the website to confirm. They responded with a letter saying I need to send an itemized receipt for equipment such as generators, chainsaws, etc.

I didn't have any damage, and I stayed out of town with my parents rather than buying a generator, so I don't have a receipt for those items.

Are there any other steps I can take to move this along?

I was denied initially. Then a guy from Fema called me Monday and today I have the money. I guess I'll submit my receipt for the chainsaw I bought.

More or less the same for me. Denied initially, updated this week, money deposited today. We had already restocked the fridge and chest freezer, but good to get (mostly) reimbursed for that food. fricking condiments, man.

I also had a spot to upload my generator receipt (purchased on 8/26), so we'll see if that comes through.

Did you provide receipts or any other additional information along with your application? I'm trying to get reimbursed for food as well.

Just to update, I was initially denied on 9/3. No miscellaneous section appeared. Today, the misc $500 option appeared and says I'm eligible for $500.

Guess I'll upload my generator receipt.

I don't think people are reading and expecr the misc to appear right away. It took 3 days for it to appear for me after being denied. Others have said it took close to two weeks for it to appear for them.

Be careful, Fema is at my brother's house right now scanning his ID, measuring the house and asking a questions. They gave him 1k I think.

I still havent gotten the misc.

But they did send me a letter to upload the generator costs and chain saw receipts if applicable.

For the chain saw it says this:

quote:

For Chainsaw, provide all the above requested information and an explanation of how debris
and/or trees presented a health or safety hazard and/or were blocking the access to your home.
