This is directly from FEMA supervisor
You can write a general statement including the date on it that you are writing statement. It can be general like I needed generator and without electricity. We were unable to get gas at times. Whatever you want to describe but doesn’t have to be long. You must print and sign your name. At the top right hand corner put your full name , date , registration number , disaster number , last 4 digits of social . You put copy of receipt. If you have more than one page, you have to label them all with everything above in right hand corner . Mail it certified ( for your own records) to FEMA Individual and household program at PO Box 10055 Hyattville , MD 70782-8055 . My husband already had generator but I know lots of people that bought them so I decided to ask for my Louisiana people that were having trouble uploading documents. Please check the address before you mail because I was writing as fast as I could before we got disconnected. It should be on their website .A lot of people got denied on generator because documents not showing up in system being due to being overloaded. I spent over an hour with an angel with FEMA that actually cared and wanted to help. I know it’s frustrating but keep trying until you get the right person if needed . She apologized on behalf of her fellow employees that have given misinformation. If you get disconnected, they ARE able to call you back .

I do not own my own home

I rent (it’s a house that is divided into three separate apartments)

My landlady lives next door to me

I have no homeowners insurance (obviously)

No damage. A crack on two windows.

My income is abysmal because I’m a resident doctor.

Not married and no dependents.

If you got the $1061 rental assistance there’s another section on the benefits letter that mentions this:

If you have hotel/motel expenses because you have been displaced from your primary residence as a result of the disaster, you may be eligible for additional financial assistance. Please provide FEMA with copies of your verifiable hotel/motel receipts with the following information included:
? Yourname;
? The name, address, and phone number of the hotel/ motel;
? Dates you occupied the hotel/motel; and
? Total amount of expenses

I feel as though it’s double dipping if they’re giving you money for rental assistance & then submitting receipts to also get reimbursed for hotel. Just curious to see what others think & if you have submitted receipts

Mine says that too and we lost our house in the storm. Havent gotten a dime yet from FEMA but imagine regardless of our income we should get something for our loss.

When I log in to the disasterassistance.gov site it says FEMA has reviewed my application for assistance and determined an inspection of my property is required.

Depending on your situation that may be the case if your application has been pending for over a week.

If you are in a disaster deemed parish you will get it regardless of income or insurance . The computer can take up to 2 weeks to automatically update . She even said people sometimes get it weeks later and they can’t change it on their end . The computer has to do it which is why a lot of people got denied and then it changed in system to miscellaneous after the original denial.

This morning received a $1,061
I heard through the grapevine that this was available. Although my expenses/inconveniences were minimal (drove to Baton Rouge and spent 2 nights with my son; lost a few things in the fridge), I filled out the online form as best I could. My justification for doing it was that as a taxpayer, I've been paying into the FEMA system all my life and didn't feel too bad about getting a little something for the travel expense. The process was quirky - got kicked off a couple of times. I did manage to enter my checking information. I went as far as I could until I got sent over to the SBA loan website. It was then I bailed out. I DID NOT enter an amount of loss. I did not expect to get a dime.

This morning, I saw an ACH deposit from FEMA for $1,061.00 sitting in my checking account.

From a previous personal episode in my life, I pledged to perform a "Random Act Of Kindness" whenever the time was right. I've decided to keep a few dollars for myself to cover my travel cost and give the lion's share to someone who's truly in need. Pay it forward.

So I emailed FEMA and just received this. Ida is disaster # 4611.

Thank you for contacting FEMA and giving us the opportunity to assist you.
For partial reimbursement of a generator purchase, the medical condition and the power outage verification documents have been waived for Disaster #4611. If you had to purchase a generator due to power outages, and have already completed a registration, please send a copy of the verifiable proof-of-purchase or rental receipts for the generator.

There are several ways to send documentation to FEMA. You may choose to:
• Upload documents from your personal computer to your online account at: www.DisasterAssistance.gov
• Send documents via fax at: 1-800-827-8112
• Send documents via postal mail to:
FEMA - Individuals & Households Program
National Processing Service Center
P.O. Box 10055
Hyattsville, MD 20782-8055

Please write your name, last four digits of your social security number, disaster number and registration number on your receipts and keep a copy for your records. We do not have a program to assist with fuel cost reimbursement.

We hope this information is helpful in addressing your question. If you have any further questions or need additional clarification, please contact the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). If you use a TTY, call 800-462-7585. If you use 711 or VRS, please call 1-800-621-3362.

Thank you,

My friend got $1013 deposited into his account last week and just got another $500 deposited today.

He rents an apartment in BR and I don’t think he even checked off that he had damage. Although it might be that he didn’t check off that he had insurance that got him approved.

I was denied when I applied way back at the beginning and it never un-denied me like some people were. But I did check off that we have insurance.

Not a huge deal.. we bought a ton of gasoline but the generator was purchased a year ago, so costs were minimal.

Just had it come through direct deposit for me this morning. Also just got off the phone with a FEMA inspector. They called and told me they will be at my property at 8 am and for me to meet them there in the morning with ID. Insurance already wrote my house off as a total loss from tree damage.

I wonder if they will give me less money if I show up to my property to meet them without a mask on?

But seriously if anyones had FEMA out before to inspect hurricane damage in the event of a total loss, what can I expect?
