I’m not aware of any enforced mask or vaccine requirement in any courthouse Louisiana currently.

It’s probably just old language in their Jury Summonses that they haven’t updated.

Wearing a mask in public is illegal in Louisiana.

Which Fed court?

I think they can all do something different, depending on which lead judge makes the decisions.

I had jury duty in Jefferson County, AL yesterday and Monday. The presiding judge said we were like the second or third jury duty group since they stopped requiring masks, which means they just stopped that requirement recently. They still made us “social distance” in the jury assembly room by leaving a seat between us and the person next to us.

Judge probably setting the rules for his/her court. Don't follow, judge can lock you up for contempt. If that happens, only a judge on a higher bench can release you (besides the original judge of course).

Since its fed court, that means that if the judge locks you up, only the 5th Circuit can release you. Do you think the 5th circuit gives a crap about little ol' you?

would reply that you "don't feel comfortable being around others" since COVID and see what they say.

I would give it 90% chance they excuse you.
That being said, people actively avoiding jury service is why our juries are made up of the 5% lowest IQ people in our society and why bad decisions get made

Gotta be real dumb to end up on jury duty. Fun fact, you can just ignore jury duty summons consequence free. This is not legal advice.

An issue with our country is judges have too much power in the courtroom. They can force all types of rules on you and nobody will check them. They have the power to hold you in contempt and put you in jail. I understand some of this is necessary to maintain order but we need better oversight over all the judges.
