i don't see how they can argue this isn't part of the current CC interpretation
even though i with CC wasn't interpreted this way, Gonzalez v. Raich still applies
quote:
"That clause permits Congress to regulate activity that is commercial or economic in nature and that substantially affects interstate commerce either directly or as part of an interstate market that has such an effect. The government has not shown that either prong is met."

Oh look, foshizzle defending moslems once again
It’s definitely common among Muslims from African regions. But it started before the rise of Islam in countries like Sudan, Kenya, Egypt, etc. They’ve found evidence on mummies and sarcophagus in Egypt pre-dating Islam’s existence there.
The Muslim religion didn’t have any qualms about it continuing but to be fair it wasn’t started by them. It’s just straight up systematic oppression/abuse of women and children across the board.

Genital cutting is not an "average Muslim" practice to start with. It's actually quite rare among that demographic.
This. Only like 75% do it

wouldn't a small government conservative approve of this ruling?
The judge is a Reagan appointee, BTW.

Her attorneys argued that the act of FGM had no bearing on commerce, which judge Friedman agreed with in his opinion:

Banning genital mutilation of nonconsenting minors is unconstitutional
Read the article. The law was slipped into a statute regulating commerce. The judge ruled that such an act had no bearing on commerce and therefore the law was unconstitutional.

Under the interpretation used against Lester Maddox’ restaurant, any supplies the doctor bought would be subject to interstate commerce.
FGM is a barbaric practice but it may end up getting SCOTUS to re-evaluate the Commerce Clause.

I assume circumcision has a basis in health whereas FGM has a basis in denying women coital pleasures
Male circumcision is also known to decrease sexual stimulation and cancer. Perhaps you have less pleasure but are also more likely to last longer?

baby boys have their genitals mutilated every day in america and nobody bats an eye

I'm not defending female genital mutilation but it's pretty obvious why this occurred even if it wasn't stated explicitly in the ruling.
If you allow the banning of female genital cutting then it's only a matter of time before people are sued, following the same logic, for male circumcision. Unless the kind of female genital cutting were talking about interferes with normal bodily functions, then it's the EXACT same thing as male circumcision. No one can honestly argue otherwise other than screaming, "MUH tradition!"
And for the record, my son isn't circumcised.

For the life of me I’ve never been able to wrap my mind around how progressives love Islam so much while they hate Christianity. When it comes to things like homosexuality and women’s rights Muslims are way more extreme than any Christian denomination. But yet they excoriate Christians forcdaring to just say they disapprove of something while giving a pass to Muslims who actually kill people for it. Someone help me understand.

Let me get this straight...
Banning genital mutilation of nonconsenting minors is unconstitutional
But if nuns tell you to pay for your own birth control pills, the government has the right to step in?
Liberals are insane.
The end.

That's a pretty big shift from your 87% figure.
Geography is more important than religion in this matter. In your own graph, Iraq has an 8% result.
Can you show us similar results from other non-African areas?

don't support that ruling, but you could make this same case for circumcision
