NOPD Det. Bruce Brueggeman leaves the Orleans Parish DA's office with Billy Ceravolo after Cardell Hayes indicted.
I'm sorry but why is the Lead NOPD Detective in the Will Smith case leaving with witness Billy Ceravolo after Hayes was indicted? This is odd to say the least.

Not that it isn't accurate but I don't know for sure who these guys are. I was leaving the Fed Courthouse in Shreveport one time and a news guy took my picture and posted it saying it was some kingpin drug guy leaving court. (I am a middle aged white dude for the record) One of my buddies saw it and called me laughing his arse off. I called the News Director and they were just "oh, sorry about that" and took the photo down.

This case just feels like a cover-up is taking place.

Is it the norm for the lead det. to retain a lawyer?

It depends on how backed up the labs are. Labs are probably done in the order they are received.
It seems to me that they could put a rush on it, since it's a high profile case.

I guess. it would seem all murder trials should get done ASAP. more NOPD covering up

it doesnt strongly effect todays hearings, and i dont think they want to send the signal that news cameras are changing protocol.

Hayes pleads not guilty to the 4 counts he is charged with:
1. second degree murder of Will Smith,
2. attempted second degree murder of his wife Racquel,
3. aggravated assault with a firearm, and
4. aggravated criminal damage to a vehicle, Smith’s Mercedes SUV
