NWS canceled the winter storm warning 15 min ago. When I went to sleep last night they were still forecasting doom and gloom. Now the whole city is shut down for nothing
I looked at 12 hour temps on my phone last night and knew we weren’t getting shite. It won’t even be freezing until after daylight......my relief will be at work at normal time

This is what you call a “total bust”. NWS was all over this one. Closest significant snow is Meridian then Birmingham

still waiting on the change over
It was 50 here in Louisville, KY yesterday. This morning it’s 15 and feels like 2. Tomorrow they’re saying -15 wind chill. If we had gotten any more snow from the same system (we only got a dusting) it would’ve likely been worse for tomorrow.

It's 2019 and still weather people can't get it right.
James Spann threw up some silly graphic about "boom" or "bust" on snowfall amounts. Anywhere from 5 inches of snow to a quarter inch ( would you be able to measure a quarter inch of snow?) 99% of any snow around here would fall in this range.
Yet, they still screwed it up. Waiting to hear what didn't happen.

so much for "coldest temperatures of the season" down here in BR, now NWS is showing a low of 30 in BR tuesday night

So did anybody get any snow?

Norther West Feliciana Parish. Had some sleet pellets on the hood of my vehicles

I’m in St. Cloud, MN for work. -11 right now with wind chill of -30 and it’s going to get worse.

WBRC(FOX6) right now is going HAM on why there is no snow and defending themselves.
2014 fricked Birmingham for decades to come.

Yep. No one wants to shoot low and they all go for doom and gloom forecasts now to cover their asses.

I wasn’t following all that close yesterday, but were they really predicting “doom and gloom” or just giving it a chance for a few inches of snow?

Yep. Span was saying between a 1/4” (basically nothing) to 5”. He might as well have said “you’ll get between 0” and 6 feet of snow”
But, I’m at least laying in bed right now instead of on my second cup of coffee in the office
And Spann has the audacity to complain about “the haters” that call him out on his bullshite

Early in the day on Monday they were forecasting 1.5" in Birmingham. About 3:00 they changed the forecast to 4" then they went balls to the walls with 1/4" ice with 3"-5" of snow on top of that.
They were going to have to send in the NG to remove all the dead bodies.

Subtle...

Here lies the challenge for public forecasters. Modest atmospheric differences can yield big impact differences in a close to freezing scenario like this and it's compounded by the cold coming it at the same time as the moisture.
Like the low over Michigan being more north than expected, letting the cold slip east sooner and not forcing the cold down south.
Tough forecast. Beats what happened in Denver yesterday morning (in a tougher situation to forecast) where a 1-3" turned into 6-10" and came in morning rush hour.

So far so good in Rapides. We are hanging in there
