Ask any old New Orleanian over the age of 60, and they'll tell you The Quarter - and most of New Orleans - was better when the Mob was running the show. There was crime, but it was kept in check and was rarely allowed to impact profits.

It was actually getting better for a while, then Latoya showed up and it is now worse than before.

It's a sht hole just like every other Demonicrapt run city. Just look how Detroit is and you can see the results. BTW I heard they want to take down the Andrew Jackson statue from Jackson Square and some others next.

That city stinks like old death.
It used to be cool and fun. Now it's just decaying
back into the slime it came from.
I have no desire to go near it ever again.

Unbelievable that the state is letting their golden goose be run into the ground by a mayor that couldn't care less what's going on. The city relies on tourism. You would think it would want to be a city ranking as one of the safest top 50% atleast instead of one of the deadliest.

I had a business dinner down there two weeks ago and the people who came from out of town were shocked at the homeless.

My work takes me down there for a few nights per month. One morning before the sun came up I was wakened by a loud-assed motor that persisted (ie: didn't move on). I got up and looked out the window to see it was the pressure washers spraying down the cobbled streets around Jackson Square. As I watched, I realized I was seeing a little-witnessed event: the changing of the homeless guard.

As the pressure washers went around the square the homeless sleeping there would get up and wander off ahead of them. After the area somewhat dried behind them, other homeless would come in and replace them.

When I go along North Claiborne to get back on the interstate I can't help but shake my head when I pass the campers perma-parked under the high-rise with their generators plugged up and running. It amazes me that the city allows them to stay there and that no one steals their generators.

Yes, my mom has been saying this for 17 years (she's 75)

New Orleans has been on the decline ever since LBJ and Mayor Moon "The Coon" Landrieu were in office.

Canal street is basically not walkable. Near the McDonalds and past where the Ignatius statue used to reside, are crackheads and addicts and zombie looking bums. I remember back in early 2000s you could at least grab some coffee at the MCDs and it was mostly fine, you had to be careful but there were plenty of normal people going in there too eat. Now? Holy smokes it’s real bad

It's just the thugs have the guns now and use them when someone looks at them wrong.
A passed out girl being raped on Bourban and the cop won't stop. New Orleans voters deserve who they vote for. Me, I'm moving back to Texas after 30+ years.

Most people around here won’t go to New Orleans anymore because of the crime.

Since when did this suddenly become a thing?

The last few years just weren’t noticed?

Last few times I flew into Nola I was on the plane with tourists from California, Texas etc. The problem for Nola is it's getting bad enough where out of town tourists are realizing it might not be worth it. The people within driving distance obviously know what's going on but someone from San Diego might not be as informed on the day to day crime. They're becoming more aware now.
