The FBI is turning to technology for clues about a missing University of Iowa student. Twenty-year-old Mollie Tibbetts disappeared a week ago while out jogging in Brooklyn, Iowa, about an hour east of Des Moines. The Des Moines Register reports that several FBI agents are working on forensics that involved technology connected to cellphones, social media and Fitbit – which Tibbett is known to wear while jogging. "We are getting a lot of information back from that process. We are very hopeful with the electronic data we are getting back," said Mitch Mortvedt, assistant director of the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation. "We are relying on the FBI heavily because it's an ever-changing world in technology." The FBI said investigators are focusing on areas where she's gone in the past. "She is a creature of habit and went the same routes, so we’re going back and covering those areas and interviewing people again," Mortvedt said. Jake Tibbetts, her brother, said he dropped her off at her boyfriend's house last Wednesday. "You never think you're going to see your sister on a poster with a missing sign right across it," Jake Tibbets said. "I've been through every possible scenario a billion times and I can never land on one. That's probably the toughest part." Dalton Jack, the missing student's boyfriend, said he's the one who noticed something wasn't right.

I take that as she was supposed to return to the boyfriend’s house after jogging and never showed up?

There’s some sick people out there.

Young attractive girl running by herself in a desolate place at 10PM. What could go wrong?

I've seen enough Criminal Minds to know that her safe return isn't very likely after a week. Damn.

I hate to say it but this. Hopefully one day my kids will remember me using the phrase situational awareness and it clicks what I was talking about.

My wife jogs some out in the neighborhood and often she gets spooked by someone she thinks is up to no good. I usually tell her she's just being over zealous, but in cases like this, it reminds me that perhaps she is keen on being overly aware of the surroundings.
Guys just don't understand because guys aren't targets of weirdos.

It’s the only reason anyone cares. Sad but true. If she was a landwhale, this wouldn’t get much attention.

It's as if these young women don't watch horror movies or shows like Criminal Minds.

Not that I think those shows are educational, but they aren't exactly stretching the imagination to come up with these plotlines.

I know you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, but the boyfriend does not look like someone to do anything foul.

quote:

"She's the sweetest, kindest most caring person that I've ever met in my life," he said. "I've never seen her do anything like an act to hurt anybody ever, and I've known her for three years and I spend pretty much every day with her." He said that if Tibbetts can hear him, he has a message for her. "I miss you so much, and I love you."

Then again you never know until you find out all the details.

More info

The Des Moines Register reported that Tibbetts was staying at her boyfriend’s brother’s house during the time she went missing. Dalton Jack, who has been dating Tibbetts for more than two and a half years, lives with his brother and Tibbetts often stayed at their home, his mother says. Dalton Jack’s mom, Cynthia, stated on Facebook, “She basically lives with my son, his brother and his brother’s fiance when she is home from college. She was staying at the house by herself and taking care of the dogs while my son (her boyfriend), my other son and his fiance were out of town working. This is not the first time she has stayed there by herself as she lived there too.”

Lots of good info from the boyfriend and his mother.

If she was a land whale she probably wouldn't get kidnapped while jogging at night.

More difficult to carry off, too...unless you have a solid plan and a van like Buffalo Bill.

I know the boyfriend was cleared, but this quote from the mom struck me as telling. As per your link,
quote:

A lot of it was nonsensical stuff, as she was trying to bring him back to the top of her favorites list. He is not much for social media and some of her friends had recently bypassed him. So she wanted him back on the top of the list.

I don't gget why females do things like go running in the most secluded places Or even go running at 10PM or late a night or extra early knowing that there are crazy people out there who give no fock and will do whatever to them. Common sense has to come into play, like come on.

Reminds me of the chick who was jogging around LSU's lake either late at night or early morning and heard someone behind her. She turned around and there's a guy running behind her fapping off. Heck, the story was actually in the reveille!
