This comes from years of hiring practices circulated around hiring douchebags that went to the right schools with a squeaky clean record rather than some prior-military guys who have degrees and know how to handle a weapon.

yep, way 2 many College nerds, and not enough Military and Policemen, who know what their doing.
I know 3 guys who got accepted to the FBI(2 are in La). 2 were Policemen(Both street cops with education), and a Guy who was in top1% of his graduating class at Duke.
The former cops continue to get promoted, Nerd is stuck doing butt work in shite areas of Houston. Cops have the gut instinct, can tell when shite isn't right and have made major busts and broken up stings. Nerd goes by what he learned in books and in Academy. NO teachers in the mean streets.
Common sense>>>>>>>> Book smarts

Yep. Guy was probably working behind a desk in corporate america a year ago, but had a dream of being an analyst for the FBI. 6 months of training later he is mandated to carry his weapon and has no idea how to behave with one.

How do you guys interpret "special agent"? Is this guy some clown that is taking pay from the agency as an informant or something? For all we know, he may have claimed to be a "special agent" to shed some heat at the time of the incident. I can promise you that the media isn't going to verify his status. They're going to run with the FBI agent story because it makes for better news. I won't be surprised to find out he's on the payroll but not trained at Quantico like a full fledged agent

“Special Agent” is a formal job title in the FBI. If they use that term, they aren’t referring to an analyst unless they are misinformed.

it's unclear if the FBI agent was drinking and authorities are awaiting blood tests to determine if alcohol was a factor in the incident.
I know it will take the FBI a while to figure this out but let me help with some clues.
- It was 12:45 am
- They were in a bar and distillery
- The dude was acting the fool on a dance floor
- The Russians were NOT involved
Those are what are known as clues. I am curious how they managed to collect a blood sample though. A smart agent would have declined to provide one and I can’t think of how they would compel one outside of getting a warrant.

The charges might allow under Colorado law.
The guy is probably cooperating with local police.

The current FBI service pistol is the Glock 19M, no way that thing is firing unless you pull the trigger.

I am not sure he is going to be an agent much longer and his new job is going to be working for that person he shot.

I thought his dance moves were pretty good for a white dude

People need to quit equating FBI agents with law enforcement officers. Unless they have prior street level experience (and, as mentioned earlier, those are becoming more rare over the last few decades) they don't have much experience with handguns. Imagine someone fresh from getting their CPA or law degree, pushed through a crash course at Quantico*, and there you have your "agent". If you handed them a set of handcuffs and told them there was a domestic down the street, they would have no idea how to handle the call.
