I went to a "kind of: private" school in the North La Bible Belt, we took a trip to New Orleans and other southern places in the 8th grade.
True Story: Witnessed a guy get shot.
Walked down Bourbon Street and remember the place with the girl swinging out of the window with her legs sprawling all over and bums peeing themselves on the sidewalk
it was pure cultural shock for a bunch of little rednecks.
We also toured Avery Island and took a paddle wheel trip which were cool

I am old enough to remember that as early as junior high but definitely by High school, they would take us on Field Trip to the French Quarter and basically drop us off and say, "You have to be back at the bus by 1:30pm. The bus leaves at 2 with or without you!"

Six pages in and no one mentioned Pontchartrain Beach? You'll have fun, you'll have fun, every day of the week!
Also went to the KIng Tut exhibit in 9th grade and the Exxon facility in Grand Isle in 8th grade.
Fun times.

Those trips were fun. Really got me in the Christmas mood. I’d sneak in candy bars and share with my friends. And it was just cool being in this theater with a bunch of other kids your age. Me and my baws would argue about who the hottest girl was on stage.
Good times

They were all my favorite because they got my ADD arse out of the classroom for a day.
The biggest one at my school was the 7th grade field trip to the French Quarter
Of course my brother 2 years older went and then the oil field crashed and field trips were ancient history 2 years later, last field trip I took was in 5th grade.

Bunny bread factory. Got stickers. Life was good
On a field trip there back in the early ‘70s, they opened the big dough mixing machine for us to watch and a big wad of dough flew out and smacked my classmate right in the face. Good times!
