When the GF and I get married and have kids, we'll have some minimum family rules like playing at least one board game a week, sit-down dinner, and having no phones (or phone usage) when we go out to eat. Oh, and they'll be actively involved in at least one sport and/or extracurricular. Easier said than done when life starts getting in the way. But it's healthy and a way to keep your kids from distancing themselves and such.

Yeah, we were gonna do all that also I do have some rules though regarding my kids with electronics. None while eating dinner, none while in public (my kid aint gonna be that little shite walking into people b/c he can't take his eyes off a device) and if weather is nice on a weekend I limit them.

Now when they first wake up on weekends, I'll give them a little time with them, also if weather is real shitty I will. I do during the summer let my youngest go to bed with an Ipad thing my wife bought that I was pissed she bought, but during school year I won't let him play with it at night. No doubt I overreact about electronics but like what was said in OP, adults are already addicted to their phones like crack, I'm sure my kids will be also when they become adults, but not gonna happen while they are kids.

I wish more people would do this. I was at the dmv today, the Hispanics have no interpersonal skills what so ever. They will stand right above you, strike convo with other Spanish speaking friends and stream Spanish tv on their phone with no consideration to others. They make the cultcha look like Monks.

Mexican kids in any public setting will convince even the most hardcore liberal to deport every last one of them. They're horrible.

Burbank between Bluebonnet and Gardere might as well be renamed Little Mexico.

Option A: Sit at car dealership.

Option B: Use loaner car to drive to work.

Option C: Use loaner car to work remotely for a little while at a Starbucks

Option D: Go home where wife and toddler are attempting to repaint a bathroom.

I think any real man here knows which option makes the most sense, "Playa".

I strongly considered it... but after scanning the customer waiting area and seeing the clientele, and the fact that blond lady with her morning show was on all the TV's blaring very loudly, I decided against it. What's that lady's name again? The blond that was on All My Children in the 90's.... dammit what's her name.... i'll remember as soon as I click Submit.

It is very sad. 11 is way too young to start him on a $7 coffee habit.

They're not father and son, but pedo and pedee, and they are making comments about how great their forbidden buttsex will be on the creepy dark web chat board where they met each other.

Feel better now?

It's great to say it, in reality everyone who claims to actually stick to those type rules are kidding themselves.

Not faulting for trying, just saying reality is a different thing.

It also depends on the individual kids. Many non parents are under the false impression that children are born as a blank slate and you can make them do or be whatever you want.

Some are more inclined to want to do physical activities while others are more inclined to play screen games etc.

Back to my OP, I got a feeling this might have been some kind of compelled father son time and like maybe dad isn’t in the kid’s life full time, there was an awkwardness to their silence, movement, etc. Nothing to prove it, just a feeling.

But as I said before, that’s none of my business.
