This is exactly what I thought. Is this recreation accurate? Why did he take out the gun and shoot the lady in this case? Even if he validly thought the gun wasn't loaded, this is careless and sort of intentional. Why the hell is he firing a real gun (even if it were unloaded) at a crew member in the point blank range. If he was practicing drawing and shooting, you don't point it at someone right in front of you. frick baldwin.

They were filming the shooting from the recipients POV and would piece that into the other scenes filmed independent of this one.

I’m sure he was supposed to be shooting at another character. The camera angle was probably meant to show the shooting from the other character’s perspective in that particular scene.

If there's not video of him cocking the gun, his claim of accidental discharge could hold a lot more weight if that makes a difference.
