Was the criminals gun loaded? Would the woman be singing the same tune if her brother killed the innocent clerk who was just trying to earn a days wage? And why do all of these Dollar Generals get robbed so often?

Dollar General probably gets robbed because they are the only thing in the general area in most cases.
Drive on a highway in a desolate area and the main stuff you will see are gas stations and a Dollar General because the area in question is far too small to support a Walmart.

From experience, all gas stations in the hood are owned by orientals, Indians (slurpee not teepee) Or middle easterners.
I guess they are just the ones with enough business sense to run a profitable store, and enough of a don’t give a frick attitude stave off the hood rats who prey on the vulnerable
