I feel like these days you can typically discern if there is a real shooting or not pretty quickly because you'll get X videos/etc. with gunfire in the background or very serious police response. And you'll often have some social media accounts of people hearing gunfire, early reports of victims, etc.
Here, I don't see anything like that yet, so hopefully a hoax.

I remember VT, Pulse, etc. being ones where the news trickled out pretty slowly and it went from "is it a false alarm" to "it's real" to "it's horrific" over a longer period.
I feel like now you know if it's a real shooting within minutes of it breaking (or can make a reasonable guess) and the scale is usually apparent pretty early too.

They're talking about Mullins on the scanner now. Having trouble keeping track of the number of officers in the library.
None of the involved officers sound amped up, so I'm guessing they're just sweeping at this point, but they're really not discussing tactics, just keeping track of a number of folks on each floor.
Someone just requested a "rescue operation."

If there aren't videos on Twitter by now of them rolling out patients, it's another hoax.
Even in the Emory shooting, multiple videos with gunfire in the background came out within minutes.

My daughter and I were leaving a campus tour and cops were flying down the streets. When we got back to our hotel, the girl at the desk said there was a an active shooter and that he went from the library to 1021, one of the campus restaurants on Dickson streets. (Her friends were texting her that.) We are hearing more sirens now….
