Why am I not surprised! With our president, he's probably working on a large payoff to give to the forgers so they will make all this bad publicity go away!

Why are the parts being called fake if it is just the certification? The parts themselves are probably fine
My guess is the metallurgy and failure testing was faked so they are not what they were represented to be anymore so than any other knockoff.
Is a $40 buck Folex not fake just because it is an actual watch?

Metallurgy by guys wearing flip flops and bathing suits doing their best to make cast parts look like forged ones, or machined one etc…

Unalived men don’t talk.

Everything dealing with a plane is logged. Every single minute of maintenance and parts are put into that plane's logbook down to the last bolt. Without the certification, there is no telling if they are real or where they originated from. Huge no-no.
Everyone chooses where they want big government control, this is my hill

Having spent a lifetime inspecting these airfoils I can tell you a seasoned inspector can detect the difference between a forged and cast blade within seconds.
Hell most of the time we could tell the forging houses apart on the same blade p/n’s without prior knowledge of which casting house made which blade. QA/QC is not the same at all places, nor are the inspectors.
These fields of endeavor are not for everyone…

I wonder if counterfeit turbine parts are marked with those ridiculous Chinese branding names we see on rather generic Amazon products. Like Xoomycompresoryumyum or Aerplaynfuntimego for example.

Since one faulty part could bring down a plane, that's not great.
Especially if my butt is on it.

It’s like ordering a 4 wheeler carb off Amazon vs having a deal replace with OEM parts. It may work fine but your chances of getting a lemon that leaves you stranded in the woods increases significantly.

Many components on an aircraft are life limited parts and are accompanied with a historical (hard) card and a serviceability tag. These can be limited by calendar, hours and cycles as determined by the manufacturer. When these parts reach their limits, they are removed, inspected, overhauled or retired from service until the required maintenance to determine continued service is performed. When retired, entries are made on the custody card and the affected part(s) are destroyed.
Also, another issue is military parts that find their way into the civil side of aviation. There are exceptions to their use, but many operators will not accept these parts on their equipment.
The problem arises when some of these parts are not manufactured by the strict requirements of the manufacturer or parts that should have been inspected, overhauled or retired have found their way back in service with falsified documents and no required maintenance performed.
It's been an issue for a long time and despite operators vigilance, it still happens.

Being a little facetious about disguising the processing. If only people were to put as much time into good work as they do into scamming.

Ask yourself if you want to be crossing the Pacific or Atlantic on a 16+ hour flight with only 2 engines equipped with fake parts.
Or a max weight takeoff in mountainous terrain?
Not a warm and fuzzy feeling for me.

Yea I’m the first to hate unnecessary regulation but airplane parts are something that quality needs to be ensured

The problem is Goldilocks doesn't control regulation. Half of the people like deregulation right up until it bites them in the arse and the other half loves regulation up until it bites them in the arse.

If the parts are fine, why were they forging certification documents?
Certs are expensive and come with a lot of red tape to get them. It is possible that the parts are quality, but no one in their right mind should deliberately use them on a fricking jet engine.
