There's so much discussion on this it's hard to know what to do. Seems most people just pull the drive shaft off and regrease the splines on the slip yoke.

The problem is everyone seems to use a different type of grease and it seems to only fix the problem for 10k miles or so before you have to do it again.

Anyone on here fix this for good?

Don't drive a Ford and you won't have that problem.

I remember hearing of this issue.

There is a particular kind of grease to use, per Ford.
Also, there is mod to do to make it a simple maintenance item.

Try a different size pair of truck nuts. Might be a front/rear weight imbalance issue.

when braking or accelerating from a complete stop you feel a 'clunk' as it starts to go.

gets worse over time..around 30-40k miles is when most people notice it.

ford dealer has a tsb and an actual recall for raptors but for the rest of us, its pulling the drive shaft and relubing it whenever you start to feel the 'clunk' again.

how long between times seems to vary.

i did see something about the mod to provide a 'grease point' so you don't have to pull the shaft each time but i'm very nervous to drill a hole in anyhthing.

Solve it by selling the F-150.

This is common in my Tundra, I have to lube of the u-joints about every 30k miles or less. But I do live where there is a lot of snow, both in Colorado and NV. Last year in Tahoe we got 60ft at my house and with years like that I usually use a waterproof marine lube instead of the standard auto, the marine lube seems to last a little longer. In fact, I need to add some today.

if you can get your hands on some Falk Long Term grease, it will last longer than most. It is what we use on couplings and unless there is some other containment, it is supposed to be good for 5 to 7 years

I brought mine in to Ford to service it since I thought it would be under my nice expensive extended warranty, which it wasn't.

Started hearing the clunk around 50k. Got it greased around 55k and never had a problem again up to the 98k miles on it when I sold it.
