Buy a tube of aeroshell grease. The problem is that the grease slings out. This is grease designed for aircraft. A Ford technician told me. Solved problem two years ago. No issues since aeroshell 33ms by Shell

I saw where some guy cleaned the shaft really good then sprayed some kind of space age paint with Teflon in it on the spindles and then also greased it.
That seemed like overkill but I'm not really excited about the idea of pulling my driveshaft every year just to regrease it either.

Has this problem been going on for many years? My 2004 ranger just started clunking at stop and goes. Usually when I turn

The solution probably costs $5-6 per truck (over 500,000 trucks per year) and Ford owners are conditioned to accept it.

My question also. I've owned several F-150s and the only one that had a drive shaft "clunk" or "clink" was the 76 4x4 I had that I put a 6" lift kit on and had the drive shaft at such a severe angle that the U joint would go out every 15-20K miles and start a "clink" when I put it in gear.
