Another question related to this is of course. Where is all this money coming from? 32 million people receiving $2,400 a month from the federal government alone, is a lot of money. Are we just printing money? What could this do to inflation?

Yep I was filling out the work in Texas shite for 3 weeks. Then got an email saying that they would continue to NOT enforce it. frick that site. Crashed ever 5 mins

Well, that's a bullshite excuse, but why should it matter if they had altruistic motives?
The end result is that money got put back in the economy, so that only 40 million people lost jobs instead of 100 million.

They have no ability to truly control who needs it because their actual job is closed or who is sitting home drawing money and not willing to do some work.
I hate it for some but the longer it draws out the worst things will be. It can't become an extension of social welfare. We have already seen what that creates.
The big deal was the extension to contractors versus employees and the volume of people impacted that don't directly pay into unemployment.
Walking in Walmart the day after the Trump stipends started to hit and weeks after the unemployment kicked in and not seeing a tv on the shelf and people shopping like it was Christmas. It will be interesting to see 2nd quarter numbers for Walmart and Home Depot.
I talked to a buddy of mine who runs a major staffing company. They have work they just can't get people to come out and the system for reporting them isn't functioning.
My cousin is in college an working part time in retail. She ended up already making her annual revenue for not working.

There's a really easy way to fix most of the true fraud cases.
Reinstate job search requirements. Require them posted weekly in order to receive benefits. No job search = no benefits. That'll fix a ton of fraud due to general laziness.
I have to imagine measures for that are going to be in any further relief package that comes out of this.

I agree with your post. If a/your job becomes back open and you say no then the benefits should go away.

The tone I got from the post was “why are these people being criticized, they saved out economy with their spending in order to help us all out.” I didn’t disagree with her overall post that it helped the economy, funny how you left that part out of the quote though.

They will. In Louisiana if someone refuses the offer to come back to work, the employer is supposed to report it. These lazy mofos are ruining a program that’s keeping my lights on and mortgage paid. At 58 years old, it’s not as easy to find a job after a lay-off. I’m applying for jobs way below my experience level at this point and still not getting a chance.

Some are definitely abusing it. Some really do need it. If a person has paid taxes for years, and they need help. Don’t see the issue with it. We have helped so many countries, and big corps. If our citizens need help, why not help..

At the beginning of this they extended benefits to the self-employed. It seems like there is no mechanism short of random audits to stop a self-employed person from working AND drawing benefits. And minimum wage earners are balling out. Meanwhile others are getting absolutely crushed and will likely be set back years. It's madness.
