Oh I thought they were trying to compete with the hellcat/demon with the gt500 after doing the gt350. I stand corrected

I think you're mixing up the Mustang GT500 with the Ford GT, being discussed here.

Nah I was responding to the person talking about the new supra, nsx and mustang gt500 getting killed by the c8.

I think the initial rumors before the details came out was that the gt500 would be a more drag focused car to compete with the likes of the dodge offerings but I guess that turned out to be not true.

I had the "pleasure" of driving an 890 hp gt350 the other night. Twin turbo, e85 tuned.

Honest assessment, it wasn't fun. Too much power and uncontrollable unless you lug it a bit.

With 12inch wide tires as 70mph roll on it too hard and the tires give up. Not to mention kevlar clutches are annoying as shite.

Given the information available people are wondering why other marques are priced so much higher on their mid-engine models.

It’s a game changer - especially for Aston Martin, Porsche, Lotus, BMW, etc.

Yea right. I’d take an M4 over this every single day.

For a dedicated track car the C8 will be great, but how many people have dedicated track cars?

C8 is about 90% of a Ford GT, 488, 720s but that last 10 percent is expensive. Same way with watches, clothes, or any other luxury item

I think it's could hurt boxster and cayman sales, but I would expect that the 911 will be mostly safe.

Porsche also makes most of its money on macan and cayenne sales these days.

Also the taycan should sell very well.

The Vette always gave supercar like performance at a fraction of the cost, but it came with a major stigma. I think that now with it looking like other supercars, that stigma goes away to an extent and their market really opens up to buyers who previously wouldn’t consider one.

You’re crazy too. A Porsche 911, namely how fricking nice the interior is, will murderize this Chevy.

No. No it didn't. It gave sports car performance at a sports car price.

ETA: obviousky I'm not talking about the supercharged model.

street legal high end racecar.

With performance that appears to be the same or worse than the C8.

All those fancy materials don’t appear to give it much of an edge

The 911 Turbo S most closely matches the C8’s performance. That’s a $150,000-$200,000 car.

The C8 will dominate that car in sales numbers and on the track.

Not to mention the interior isn’t that far behind the Porsche.

Some people are picturing the C5 interior

Definitely. And it’s a huge turd in Porsche’s punch bowl judging by the number of threads and chatter about the C8 on Rennlist.

These higher end performance cars are small piece of the overall car market, but the C8 definitely just up-ended it.
